TEST: electric motorcycle Zero SR [InsideEVs]

InsideEVs had the opportunity to test the Zero SR motorcycle. The journalist's impressions are quite understandable: in Eco mode we will go far, but without pleasure. Sport mode will be a lot of fun, but the range will drop to several tens of kilometers. 

The Zero motorcycle tested by the editors belonged to the SR series, that is, to more expensive cars with more capacious batteries. This particular model had a 71 hp engine. (52 kW) and a torque of 146 Nm. As for the dimensions, The Zero SR should be similar to the Honda CB650F and Suzuki SV650.. He was not the lightest, but he got used to the weight - especially since the car was predictable.

No engine sound this should have been a problem only in the first 60 meters. The journalist was surprised to find that not having to change gear frees up a lot of mental resources and allows him to focus more on driving. The motorcycle, however, does not allow maneuvering between cars in a traffic jam: the steering wheel works too little.

Glove box in ... tank

One of the interesting features of the machine was the on-site storage compartment, where conventional motorcycles have a fuel tank. It didn't fit on a helmet, but could hide small items - or install extra batteries or an extra charger. Where is the battery? Below and further back.

Charging: 10 hours at home, Zero SR range: ~ 180 km

The Zero Electric Motorcycle can be charged from a household outlet. However, it takes 10 hours, which is good at night, but won't work on the road. Therefore, the company is adding as an option the Charge Tank, which is an additional faster charger.

On a varied route that ran through the city, highways and country roads, electric cooker Zero SR it was about 179 kilometers: the journalist drove 161 kilometers (100 miles) and the odometer showed 10 percent battery charge.

However, the tester notes that he used Eco mode, in which the bike reacted very sluggishly. In the performance-oriented Sport mode, the range was shorter, at just 56 kilometers under hard driving. However, the fun was supposed to be incomparable, only the Yamaha MT-10 was faster and stronger, according to the journalist.

Zero SR Electric Motorcycle Price starts from 16 495 USD, which is equivalent to approximately 59 100 PLN net. In Poland, taking into account customs duties and taxes, it will be at least 120– XNUMX thousand zlotys.
