With a delay of several months, he also brought the Focus to Slovenia and immediately won. Many readers and even more professional journalists who unanimously chose Focus for Slovenian Car of the Year.
And what did Focus convince so convincingly? It is difficult to single out just one factor. At Ford, they showed great courage when they simply forgot about their predecessor when creating the new Focus. This means that they only had a blank sheet of paper for the new one. Everything they created, they created anew. Or in other words - the new Focus is a kind of reboot of the previous ones.
Of course, you know what they had, how they worked, but they wanted a different, better approach to new ones. They wanted to create one of the best cars in their class, relying only on the knowledge and experience of the past. But not on the previous Focus. So the all-new Focus is also different in design. This element is very important. If we are still consoled that form isn't everything, it certainly is a lot. If you skip the form, the content will be difficult to decide, even if it is so good. The Focus has stuck, probably also because it looks like its predecessor, even though the car is completely different. Whether we are talking about a five-door or versatile Focus.
As verified. The latter are most often thought of by people when they want to move a family or use a car for business purposes. However, they are increasingly being joined by those drivers who drive alone or in pairs, but love the space in the trunk. They can store a lot of sports equipment or even luggage there when they go to sea or travel.
Of course, everything is beautiful and correct, but is it really necessary to give up the comfort and convenience of a limousine for several trips a year? In most cases, this is what happens. With Focus everything is different. Many professional journalists agree that the Focus station wagon rides even better than the station wagon. And let's face it - the Focus has always been very decent to drive, but now the car drives really well. This, of course, means that the Focus wagon rides a lot better. And the latter was the main reason for the majority of journalists who voted for the Slovenian car of the year. The Ford Focus drives really well!
But, as always, this stick also has two ends. I can't argue that the Focus drives well, but it's true that after testing quite a few Focuses in less than six months, I can say that it depends a lot on what kind of engine is under the hood. He was in the test 1,5-liter turbo petrol with 150 horsepower.
The numbers are promising. The engine is not the smallest in terms of volume (which is still very important for many), and 150 "horsepower" is not so small. In the test machine, this combination was added eight-speed automatic transmission. I have to prove myself right there - I'm always for an automatic transmission. If only he wasn't hopelessly bad.
Well, there are really few of them today. Don't worry, Focus doesn't fall into the bad or bad category. However, he is a little impatient on bad soil, and sometimes starting in winter conditions can feel like an impatient 20-year-old. The wheels will want to idle and the car will bounce restlessly. It is clear that there is enough power, the box wants to do its job right away, but the road does not allow it. There is nothing wrong with this, the driver just needs to feel a little when driving on a bad or wet surface.
In all other respects, Focus and I were right. I don't have any problems with the material inside. Some have criticized the new Focus for saying that the material on the center console is too weak or not up to par with the rest of the car. I think about it differently - the car is made for driving, not for sitting still and admiring the materials. Of course, the driver and passengers inside should feel good, but I don't look at every piece of questionable quality plastic.
And, of course, there's more to be said in Focus's defense - just like it's been for several years now, the new Focus has become a global car. This means that Focus anywhere in the world is the same as ours, and vice versa. And since they are not different, we have to satisfy many automotive tastes, including ours, or, better to say, spoiled by Europeans. I do not mean anything bad, just the taste for beauty is sometimes exaggerated, while in other countries of the world they prefer to devote themselves to driving or just driving.
Well, for this - to please the driver and passengers - the test Focus was well equipped. Already a package of equipment Titanium business promises a lot (and really does). A well-functioning collision avoidance system with pedestrian and cyclist detection is worth highlighting. We were convinced of this in Vransko, as part of testing candidates for the Slovenian car of the year. Two days later, the Focus was the only one next to the Kia Ceed, which was even more accurate, almost always braking in front of an imaginary obstacle. Of course, the system is useful, we are not talking about one hundred percent prevention.
The equipment inside Focus was also above average. Getting into the car and starting the engine with a proximity key, navigation device, smart cruise control, heated seats and steering wheel (otherwise it would be a little warmer in winter) are just the candy of the equipment range. If we add more than five thousand euros of additional equipment (which brings, among other things, a power panoramic roof, an electric tailgate with a hands-free function, and a winter, parking and design package), it becomes clear that such a Focus will satisfy even the most demanding and pampered buyer.
Especially if we add the above mentioned trip above average. It's true that the transmission needs a bit of softness when pulling away on poor surfaces (when you need to hold the steering wheel firmly to keep it from moving), but in every other way the Focus is above average. And when position on the road, and when cornering quickly, and when driving with a full load. Of course, you need to keep in mind its engine. 150 "horses" give a lot, but it is also necessary. For many, this is overkill, but it happens when you drive a turbocharged gasoline engine. At that time, fuel consumption is not the lowest, but the truth is that with a quiet ride, this engine still shows itself to be a pretty decent fuel consumption. It is up to you to decide whether you will drive dynamically or, more precisely, save.
