Santa Fe, as we know it today, first saw the light of day in early 2006. So he's three years old. That's right if we put it next to its youngest competitors, they've known it for years, but it's still a real and, above all, a very durable SUV. Especially if you look at its price list.

Equipment Limited is at the very top of the list. Below are the City (3WD), Style and Premium packages. Nothing, a good choice, and also a hint that the Limited is a really rich set of equipment. Not to mention all the safety accessories, including ESP, and the many accessories that make your stay inside better (leather, heated and electrically adjustable (this only applies to the driver) seats, windshield wiper, rain sensor, dual-zone automatic air conditioning ...) and which already available in other packages, the Limited spoils you with a combination of velor on the seats, dark wood and metal look accessories, a Kenwood navigation device that also includes a CD, MPXNUMX and DVD player, USB and iPod connector, Bluetooth connectivity and a camera for driving assistance in reverse, and from the outside, you'll recognize a Santa Fe so equipped by the roof spoiler on the tailgate.

There were “only” five seats in the test, which means a savings of 1.200 euros, but we must immediately add that this difference includes not only two additional seats, but also the automatic rear height adjustment. The truth is, even with an all-classic suspension, the ride is very comfortable. Santa Fe walks in high, which older people usually like, and sits like that too. Therefore, younger drivers will want a more palpable seat that drops lower and a steering wheel that adjusts not only in tilt, but also in depth and height. As such, it is already clear that the driving position will probably not be completely ideal for them, but it will still be good enough not to be disturbed.

Engine noise inside does not bother at all, which is undoubtedly due to the good soundproofing, which is at least as perfect as the engine tucked away in the nose, and the fact that the five-speed manual transmission, which mainly takes care of the transmission engine power on bikes is quite sufficient and does its job more than reliably. We missed the sixth gear only in rare moments.

All-wheel drive in Santa Fe is designed to automatically transfer most of the power and torque to the wheelset with the best grip. When conditions under the wheels become more severe, the transmission can also be "locked" and split between the two wheelsets in a 50:50 ratio. But only up to a speed of 40 km / h. After that, the lock is automatically released, and the system regains control over the transmission of power. For day-to-day use, the drive so constructed is extremely useful, if not ideal, and the truth is, for the price they want from Hyundai, there is little grudge attributed to the Santa Fe.

If this is the case, then this applies to interior materials that do not match the quality of more prestigious competitors, to automatic air conditioning, which cannot accurately maintain the selected temperature, and roof racks that are too wide and therefore cannot be completed with standard suitcases. ... ...

evaluation

  • Santa Fe is not only the largest Hyundai SUV, but also the flagship of this brand in our land. And it fully justifies its mission. It's true that you may lack the sophistication of more prestigious competitors, but in terms of equipment, space and usability, it competes with them on equal terms.
