The Ateca being tested was powered by an entry-level three-cylinder engine that offers 115 horsepower and Style equipment, which is the third in a row, but there was still a lot of extra equipment in the car. For the same reason, the final price of the car was relatively high. Especially for the uninitiated who are the first to notice and comment on the engine.

It was, as already mentioned, only a three-liter liter, to which many still have a stepmother. Moreover, the obvious reduction did not work, and some brands (including the Volkswagen Group) are already returning to high volumes. But the liter three-cylinder has just been made and is now what it is. And there is a lot. The liter engine alone (check) cannot completely hide the disturbing sound of the three-cylinder engine, but during normal driving it does not interfere at all. Only with decisive acceleration does the engine reveal its design, and this must be taken into account by every driver choosing a three-cylinder petrol engine. On the other hand, it is true that most people still find it easier to listen to an advertisement for a three-cylinder gasoline engine than the roar of a diesel engine. Last but not least, performance is comparable. 115 "horsepower" is enough to accelerate the Ateca from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 11 seconds and reach a top speed of 183 kilometers per hour. The car has proven itself even more with its driving performance and position on the road, which is above average, as befits a Seat. Many people do not find the data shocking, but they should be aware that we are talking about the underlying engine. And, of course, there are people who love dynamic trips, but at the same time love comfort.

And in doing so, the Ateca test made an impression. The standard equipment was already rich and the Ateco test was further enhanced with metallic paint, blind spot detection with rear intersection warning, wireless smartphone charger, LED interior lighting with a choice of eight different colors, LED headlights, cruise control with automatic adjustment the distance to the vehicle in front, the rear view camera and the navigation system.

The accessories (which were significantly larger than the above) did require almost 5.000 euros, but below the line, the test Ateca was more than just a good car. And you don't need to listen to the hum of a diesel engine.

On the other hand, it is necessary to consider its origin. It's no secret that he is from the Volkswagen concern, which means that the exterior is pleasantly fresh, and the interior is a German ascetic. Black, nothing fancy, but top notch ergonomics. It sits well in the seats too, and the trunk is spacious too.

Thus, the Ateca can be a good alternative to the Volkswagen Tiguan. The technique, craftsmanship and materials are similar, as is the form, as is the interior. It is not the cheapest in terms of price, but it is definitely cheaper than the Tiguan. The engine may not be comparable, but the base 1,4-liter Tiguan has only 10 more horsepower, which is not a significant difference. Thus, the buyer can only choose between proven classics and pleasant Spanish freshness. If he is younger, he will have no problem making decisions. And he won't pick the wrong one!

  • Seat Ateca could be the ticket to the world of midsize crossovers. It offers pleasing design, quality and ergonomic interiors and the reputation that the Volkswagen Group has earned. Of course, it is true that Seatas are no longer as cheap as they used to be, and at the same time Volkswagens in Slovenia have a very good price tag. Consequently, the latter, of course, is not and should not be the only criterion for choosing.
