Grille test: Mercedes-Benz CT 220 BlueTEC

This extra T and different rear end can be explained in different ways, but at first glance they seem like a sedan and a T car for completely different types of customers. With a limousine, you can drive elegantly and in accordance with the brand's reputation, maybe even quite prestigiously in every fashionable place. What about T? When you look at our test C in beautiful and radiant blue (officially a brilliant blue, metallic color), it's clear that it's not far behind the sedan in any way. Our second C-Class tested was very similar in many ways to the sedan tested in April.

I think mostly about the motor or the drive. Slightly over two-liter turbodiesel engine had the same power as the sedan, that is, 170 "horsepower", as well as the same transmission, 7G-Tronic Plus. The interior was also in many ways similar, but not quite on the same level as the first one. We had to settle for a little less infotainment equipment: there was no internet connection and no navigation device connected to the world and directly extracting maps in 3D. We were pleased with the Garmin Map Pilot navigation device, of course, it doesn't look so pretty, but it works very well if we need direction to the destination.

The interior was also different, with dark upholstery that might conjure up less elegance, but the black leather on the seats also seems quite appropriate (AMG Line). As if a dark color would be a better fit for this version with more emphasis on usability! The custom is an iron shirt, says an old Slovenian proverb. But at least I feel uncomfortable sitting in a limousine. That's why I had a different feeling when I sat in the C-Class with the addition of the T. The rear luggage compartment is convenient, and the automatic opening and closing of the tailgate, along with an efficient trunk lift mechanism, makes access easier. The trunk seems large enough even for those who need a little more space, even more can be obtained by "cancelling" the rear seat.

While the real owners of this premium Mercedes probably won't satisfy even such transportation needs, choosing the T will outweigh the convenience with convenience in all conditions. The exterior was also from the AMG Line, as were the 19-inch alloy wheels. Both were similar to the first C tested. The Tale T differed from the sedan in that no sport suspension was chosen. Despite the lack of air suspension, experience with this Mercedes has shown us not to exaggerate when it comes to sportiness. The ride quality of this less rigid, "unsportsmanlike" chassis hasn't changed much, except that it's much more comfortable to ride on paved roads. The tried-and-tested Class C with the addition of the letter T thus proves that the Germans have managed to make a big throw, convinces the car, especially in those things that have so far been neglected in Stuttgart - driving dynamics and sporty elegance.

Of course, you should not be surprised that the base price for such a machine will be quite high, and the sum of all the benefits of accessories is a bit surprising. A two-thirds jump in the final price will force many to carefully consider what items of equipment can still be excluded from the final list. But we were surprised by something else - that the car did not have the same winter tires front and rear. We didn't get a response. Maybe because they weren't in stock...
