Test Lattice: Renault Clio TCe 90 Energy Techno Feel

Remember not so long ago the advertising peaks of French automakers? For example, those commercials for Clio MTV when you "heraaaaaaaa" the broom sweeper, which is supposed to be just part of the chorus of the James Brown song that plays when the Clio "falls" past? Quickly type Clio MTV ads on YouTube and you won't regret it. We can say that this is the beginning of the personalization of cars for a certain segment of customers. In this case, a young man who watched music videos on MTV all day long. 15 years later, marketers are still playing in similar positions. Perhaps in the case of this test car with the full name of Renault Clio Techno Feel Energy TCe 90 Start & Stop, these are not even words related to music, but it is clear that this is a version that offers a set of equipment adapted for a younger age. purchasing power.

According to the hierarchy, the Techno Feel hardware package is somehow intermediate between the Expression and Dynamique packages. Most of the accessories are based on visuals, and the advantage of the package is that it offers some of the accessories list at a discounted price. For example, you will subtract only € 500 for parking sensors and a camera instead of 250. However, our test Clio was not only spiced with the basic equipment of the Techno Feel package, but also made unique with accessories from the accessories list. For example, for red 17-inch wheels, an additional € 500 must be deducted, and a roof sticker costs € 200.

The engine that participated in the Clio test is now familiar to us, although it is from a new generation. The 90 "horsepower" three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine raises a start-up anxiety due to noise and vibration, but we soon find it doesn't disappoint with this body type. The power is just enough to keep up with the pace of everyday traffic, and you still can't go to race tracks with such a car.

The Clio's interior, like the exterior, is enriched with accessories from the Techno Feel package. If this is not found in the black colored parts, it will be easier to spot it from the striking pattern on the steering wheel or along the edge of the gear lever of the five-speed gearbox. Materials and ergonomics are on a satisfactory level, and the extremely simple R-Link multimedia interface with a seven-inch touchscreen is commendable. Slightly less sensitive to the touch are the levers on the steering wheel, which are a little pinched and it is difficult for them to "find" the right place. Even the wipers don't have a disposable wiper function.

The trend of personalizing cars is exploding and Clio hasn't escaped it. Someone's heart will beat at the sight of attractive accessories on the car, someone's mind will say that the Techno Feel equipment package offers a lot for little money.

evaluation

  • If earlier Clio was sold by itself in Slovenia, today it needs to be brought closer to the buyer. One way is through special equipment packages, and one of them is the Techno Feel package.
