Antifreeze A-65. Will not freeze even in severe frost!

Features

The coolant in question was developed by employees of the Department of Organic Synthesis Technology of one of the Soviet research institutes in relation to VAZ car models, the production of which was being mastered at that time. The ending -ol was added to the first three letters of the name, which is typical for the designation of many high-molecular organic substances. The number 65 in the decoding of the brand indicates the minimum freezing point. So, almost half a century ago, the production of a family of coolants with similar names (OJ Tosol, Tosol A-40, etc.), designed for use in domestic cars, began.

The concept of "coolant" should be distinguished from the concept of "antifreeze". The latter only means that the original concentrate was diluted in a certain proportion with water, and can also be used in the cooling system of internal combustion engines as a corrosive agent.

The basis of Antifreeze A-65 is ethylene glycol, a highly toxic viscous liquid when inhaled or ingested. Due to the presence of glycerin, it has a sweetish taste, which is the cause of most poisoning. Ethylene glycol exhibits a high oxidizing ability to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, which leads to the introduction of various inhibitory additives into the composition of antifreezes:

  • corrosion inhibitors.
  • anti-foam components.
  • composition stabilizers.

The performance characteristics of Tosola A-65 are as follows:

  1. Crystallization start temperature, ºC, not less: -65.
  2. thermal stability, ºC, not less: +130.
  3. Nitrite and amine compounds - no.
  4. Density, kg / m3 - 1085… 1100.
  5. pH indicator - 7,5 ... .11.

The liquid is fire and explosion-proof. For identification, a blue dye is added to the original composition. All other characteristics of Antifreeze A-65 must comply with the technical requirements of GOST 28084-89 and TU 2422-022-51140047-00.

How to dilute Antifreeze A-65?

The standard provides for the dilution of the coolant with distilled water, and the mass fraction of water should not exceed 50%. Based on practical feedback, soft settled water (melt, rain) is also suitable for dilution, which does not contain a significant amount of metal carbonates that increase the alkalinity of the solution. When diluting antifreezes, their chemical aggressiveness decreases.

The amount of water that is introduced into the base substance is determined by the desired freezing point: if it should not exceed -40ºC, then the mass fraction of water is not more than 25%, if -20ºC - no more than 50%, -10ºC - no more than 75%. The initial volume of the concentrate must take into account the capacity of the vehicle's cooling system.

When determining the outdoor temperature, one should not rely on the readings of a thermometer, but also take into account the wind speed, which reduces the actual temperature by 3 ... 8 degrees.

The price of Antifreeze A-65M is determined by the manufacturer and the capacity of the packaging. On average, it is:

  • When packing 1 kg - 70 ... 75 rubles.
  • When packing 10 kg - 730 ... 750 rubles.
  • When packing 20 kg - 1350 ... 1450 rubles.
  • When packing in metal standard barrels - from 15000 rubles.
I diluted the antifreeze with WATER!!! What happened to him in -22 frost !!!
