Toyota Hilux GR Sport in advance. Price, characteristics, equipment

Toyota showrooms have begun accepting orders for the Toyota Hilux GR SPORT. This is a completely new version of the iconic pickup truck, based on the experience of starts in the Dakar Rally.

The car has an active limited slip differential, a rear differential lock and an active traction control system. In addition, the car received AT tires that facilitate off-road driving, as well as an improved suspension. Reduced vibration and noise contributed to increased comfort on the road.

Toyota Hilux GR SPORT starts from PLN 210 net (PLN 900 gross).

The GR SPORT version is powered by the 2,8-litre Hilux engine, which is available from 2020. The drive produces 204 hp. (150 kW) and 500 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is only available in a double cab version. The Hilux can pull a braked trailer of 3,5 tons and has a load capacity of one ton.

Toyota Hilux GR SPORT has a modified suspension. Only this version uses single-tube dampers front and rear for better damping, faster response and better heat dissipation. In addition, the front springs have been reinforced. Compared to the standard Hilux, the GR SPORT version has improved ride quality, including steering effort and steering response.

Suspension modifications are visible from the outside. Springs and dampers are painted red. Rally character is also added by red-painted aluminum casings for the engine and rear axle.

The GR SPORT version impresses not only with the red chassis elements. The car has a dark G-shaped grille inspired by the Dakar Rally, as well as TOYOTA lettering instead of the brand emblem. This is a nod to the heritage of this model and the classic fourth-generation Hilux of the early 80s. The stern styling of the front end is accentuated by new, larger fog lamp bezels. The Hilux GR SPORT also features two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels with off-road tires, as well as a black motif on the mirrors, side steps, fenders, above the cargo area and on the tailgate handle.

In the center, the GR SPORT version features new perforated leather sport seats with red stitching and GR badging on the headrests. The GR SPORT logos are placed on seats, carpets, the "Start" button, as well as in the form of graphic animation on the display. The driver can use the paddle shifters, the leather steering wheel has red stitching, and the sports pedals are made of aluminium. Carbon fiber inserts add character, as does the red trim stripe on the cab or the blue illuminated door panel. The luggage compartment can be covered with a black electric roller blind.

The Toyota Hilux GR SPORT will be available in three color versions reserved for this variant. Royal Gray and Crimson Spark Red metallic nail polishes cost an additional PLN 3, while Platinum Pearl White nail polish costs PLN 200.

The equipment of the GR SPORT version puts it at the top of the Hilux range. The car has, among other things, a JBL Premium Audio system with 9 speakers and a subwoofer, heated front and rear seats, a panoramic monitor with a Panoramic View Monitor system, as well as Toyota Touch 360 satellite navigation in Polish with free map updates for 2 year and color, 3-inch touch screen. Smartphone connectivity is possible via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®.

The Toyota Hilux GR SPORT also features a suite of advanced Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems, including Collision Early Warning with Pedestrian Detection (PCS+PD), Lane Departure Alert with Brake Assist (LDA), Fatigue Detection driver (SWS) and adaptive cruise control (ACC). The vehicle is also equipped with Trailer Stability Control (TSC), Hill Descent Assist (DAC) and Hill Climb Assist (HAC).

The first Toyota Hilux GR SPORT vehicles will arrive in the second half of 2022.
