Triumph TE-1 is the concept of the first electric Triumph. Sorry, no release date

Triumph has announced a partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering to create an electric Triumph TE-1. We first learned about an electric motorcycle in February 2019, but only today we learned that work on a prototype is underway.

Triumph TE-1 built with WAE is a chance for a real product

Williams Advanced Engineering is the company that in the world of electric vehicles should be best known to Formula E enthusiasts. Since 2014, WAE has been supplying battery packs for electric vehicles. In third generation vehicles (Formula E Gen3, from 2022) adapting them to charging up to 800 kWwhich is a significant result when you consider that the battery capacity is 51 kWh (15,7 C).

But in a world of less powerful and more civilian vehicles, WAE hasn't made much headway yet. Working with Triumph can change that and make Williams' solutions more accessible.

Little is known about the Triumph TE-1 itself. The bike is expected to offer "all available power regardless of battery level", be "as aggressive as possible" while delivering "best-in-class range." The press release shows that the development of Integral Powertrain Ltd. The engine is expected to develop up to 130 kW (177 hp) and weighs 10 kg., it will be liquid cooled and integrated into the controller. The manufacturer expects the drives to be scalable, i.e. variants with different capacities may appear on the market (source).

The capacity of the TE-1 battery was not disclosed. or any dates on which two-wheelers will be offered. The project is currently in Phase 2in which the drive is presented. It's all the more surprising that Zero or Energica aren't idling about introducing more and more new models, and the classic brands - with the exception of Harleyd-Davidson - still seem a little surprised by the upheaval that's happening before their eyes.
