Engine tuning - pros and cons

Probably every car owner thought about engine tuning your car. The desire to change and individualize something in a person is inherent in the DNA, therefore, immediately after buying a car, many strive to change something, improve the technical, dynamic, external indicators of their car.

It should be said that tuning the engine, making any changes on a new car is not always practical. This is because by making any changes, the car may lose the warranty issued by the manufacturer. This factor stops very few people. The desire to alter the interior, to cover the car body with modern film, to upgrade the engine to see that the dynamics figures differ markedly from those stated in the factory documents.

Why else is a car engine tuned?

But not everyone is interested in this type of tuning, as increase in engine power... Not everyone wants to sweep the first hundred on the speedometer in an ever-shorter period of time. What then? For example, fuel consumption. This parameter is one of the main, when choosing a car... Nevertheless, even if the consumption is large, this can be corrected at the software level by preparing specialized programs for the electronic control units of the car. This is done by specialized tuning studios, which already have developed algorithms for most cars. However, the golden rule applies here, if we win somewhere, then somewhere we have to lose. In this case, with a decrease in fuel consumption, we will, of course, lose in the dynamics of the car.

Besides private tuning studio, car manufacturers themselves offer the installation of special programs for cars of their brands. To put it another way, you get tuning with the warranty, plus everything you can always return to the standard program by visiting an authorized dealer of your brand.

What results can chip tuning give?

In this article, we look at general aspects engine tuning, therefore, we present the average figures for the increase in power (improvement of the acceleration dynamics). There are a huge number types of engines internal combustion. For naturally aspirated engines, chip tuning can add 7 to 10% of the power, that is, horsepower. As for turbocharged engines, the increase here can reach from 20 to 35%. I would like to say that now we are talking about the numbers that apply to everyday cars. An increase in the percentage of added power entails a serious reduction in engine life.

There are many different opinions about the chip - for some it came in, but for others, on the contrary, the car has already started running. For me, everyone here decides for himself whether he needs it or not. Of course, I chipped my car, my interest took its toll)) I have a Hover H5 2.3 diesel - the acceleration feels much better, the turbo lag has been removed, the pedal now instantly responds to pressure. Well, from the bottom up the car finally began to pull! Flashed with adakt on stage2 with EGR plug. So the engine can now breathe freely too. So the chip went through successfully for me, but I also encountered negative reviews about Hovers. A lot also depends on the firmware. And the most important thing, of course, is to turn on your brain before deciding to do anything, study the hardware, read the forums. Something like this!
