Is technical research fulfilling its role?

The results of a study conducted on a group of 1 person in March and April 500 show that drivers in Poland do not have the habit of fastening their seat belts before entering the road and do not see them as a way to increase safety.

Poles see short distance driving or discomfort as an excuse for not wearing seat belts. We usually fasten our seat belts when we are going on a long journey, when conditions are difficult, or when we know that the police might check us. On the other hand, child seats, although commonly used, are not well suited for the child and are then properly secured in the car.

However, the majority of Poles agree that the police should more often check whether the seat belts are fastened by both the driver and passengers, despite the fact that 34 percent think so. It was found that over the past 3 years the number of inspections has increased.

“The study shows that the Poles neglect the importance of seat belts, although they at least double the chance of surviving a car accident. Drivers are slightly more picky about using child seats, but only 62 percent. children are transported in them correctly. Parents still don't know how to correctly install a car seat in a vehicle so that it fulfills its task of improving safety,” notes Dr. Andrzej Markowski, psychologist, Association of Transport Psychologists.

The "Turn on the Thinking" campaign aims to promote the fastening of seat belts by car drivers and passengers and the use of child seats in cars. All summer at events in different cities "Turn on the mind" - fasten your seat belts Poland, seminars will be held with the participation of the police and experts on seat belts and the correct fastening of child seats so that they perform their best rescue function.
