TECH SPECS:
The Volvo S90 2016 is based on a fully independent suspension platform (double wishbones at the front and a multi-link structure at the rear with a composite leaf spring). Buyers of the new flagship are offered four options for power plants. The first and second are two-liter turbodiesels (different degrees of boost), the third is a 2.0-liter gasoline power unit. The top version is equipped with the same 2.0-liter engine, only it is included in the hybrid system, powered by a 65 kW electric motor.
In a pair of power units, depending on the selected configuration, either a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-position automatic transmission is installed. In the case of a hybrid installation, the torque from the internal combustion engine is transmitted to the front axle, and the electric motor drives the rear wheels. This eliminates the need to install an all-wheel drive clutch.
