Consider changing tires to improve safety and economy.

If you live in an area where the roads are affected by seasonal changes, or if you are driving to an area that is very different from your own in terms of climate, you may want to change your tires. Summer tires have poorer braking performance than winter tires when the road surface gets colder, which can be dangerous. In addition to safety, there is also an economic aspect. Summer tires provide less fuel economy than winter tires when driving on cold roads!

Cleaning

If you're changing tires yourself, it's important to thoroughly clean or flush the bolts, nuts, and wheel hubs, as this minimizes the risk of serious defects, rust, and steering impact.

Check the tread pattern

Always check that the tread pattern meets the legal requirements for a tread depth of at least 1.6 mm. The usual advice to test this is to put a 20 pence coin into the thread of the tire. If it covers the outer rim, then everything is fine, because it is slightly less than 1.6 mm. But legal requirements are one thing, and security is another. To get the best grip on the road, you should not drive with tires with a tread depth of less than 3 mm, depending on, among other things, the width of the tire. This way you make sure your tires are as safe as possible.

Study the nature of exports

If you experience uneven tire wear, it is recommended that you buy new tires; alternatively you can make sure the least worn tires are mounted at the back. Keep in mind that the vehicle will most likely need tracking/wheel alignment before changing a tire if you notice uneven wear.

Tighten the bolts

Whether you change tires yourself or have it done by a professional, you should always make sure the bolts are tight again after a few miles of driving.

Check tire pressure

After the tires have been replaced, be sure to check their pressure if the workshop has not done this for you. Incorrect tire pressure leads to unnecessary wear, poor handling and poor fuel economy.

Get tire tracking

Regardless of whether you change tires yourself or entrust it to a professional, camber adjustment should be carried out at least once every two to three years. This will ensure that the wheels have the correct geometry and lean angle on the road.

Change tires

So that the tires do not wear out too quickly, it is recommended to swap them. Basically, this can be done when the car passes a service inspection. Talk to your mechanic about whether your tires are suitable for replacement.

Store your tires properly

If you need to change tires, make sure your current set of tires is stored correctly when you remove them. It is also important how you store a set that you do not ride.
