Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki work together on electric motorcycles

Four well-known Japanese companies - Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki - are working on a standard for charging stations and connectors for electric motorcycles. Today, none of these vehicles offer such a vehicle, although Honda has already shown several prototypes and Yamaha sells electric bikes.

While all four are prominent and recognized in the world of internal combustion motorcycles, they are less important in the world of electricians than American Zero. And this despite the fact that the countries of the Far East are the undisputed leaders in the production of electrical elements.

Therefore, Japanese manufacturers form an organization that will act as an advisory body for all companies (source). It is supposed to suggest (decide?) probably about connectors and charging stations in order to avoid fragmentation and unnecessary competition in this segment. It is possible that he will also decide on the standard of replaceable battery modules - that is, the element that ensured Gogoro's success in Taiwan.

The organization's future plans have not yet been announced, but they are expected to appear in the near future. The market for electric motorcycles is exotic today, but in a few years it will begin to overshadow the market for motorcycles with internal combustion engines. The greatest resistance today is the low energy density in the cells (0,25-0,3 kWh/kg). Breaking the 0,4kWh/kg level - and that's already achievable - will make ICE motorcycles slower, weaker and have worse ranges for the same fuel tank or battery size.
