How Geely tried to quickly change the perception of Chinese cars in Russia, and what came of it

Geely Atlas is one of the most exciting new products of the year. Firstly, despite the Chinese origin, this crossover is assembled in Belarus at the Belji plant. Secondly, structurally, he is very similar to Korean and Japanese classmates. And finally, thirdly, with the help of Atlas, Geely is trying to change the perception not only of its own brand, but of all Chinese cars in Russia.

Atlas is built according to a proven market recipe: it has a monocoque body and independent suspensions, and atmospheric engines work under the hood, combined with "mechanics" or a classic hydromechanical "automatic". The drive for basic versions is front, but on older trim levels an all-wheel drive transmission with an electronically controlled clutch is available.

The Chinese themselves call Atlas the "third generation" Geely model and argue that the car has made a significant leap forward both in design and quality of performance. And you really feel it.

However, the jump in price is felt as well. A basic crossover with a two-liter engine and mechanics costs more than $ 12, and this is already the territory of Korean and French crossovers of local assembly.

Geely Atlas is not that small in size. Its length is 4519 mm, width - 1831 mm, and height - 1694 mm. The wheelbase is not the largest by the standards of the class - 2670 mm.
