Replacing the pump with a VAZ 2114
If the pump fails, it may leak and as a result you will have to constantly top up the coolant, as it will go away. This can even lead to overheating of the engine if the problem is not corrected in time. There are also cases when the bearing play increases, and then the water pump gear itself begins to dangle, which can lead to increased wear on the timing belt.
To solve the problem with the pump, you need to replace this part with a new one. To do this, you need a tool, the list of which is given below:
- 10 mm head
- Ratchet handle
- Extension
- Flat blade screwdriver
- Key for 17
Before proceeding with this repair procedure, you must complete some steps:
- Drain the coolant from the system
- Set the timing by tags
- Remove timing belt
When these steps are completed, then you will need to lock the camshaft gear and unscrew the bolt of its fastening, as shown in the photo below:
And after that we shoot the star:
Then we unscrew one nut and four bolts securing the inner casing.
After that, turning the casing, remove it so that it does not interfere:
Take a flat-blade screwdriver and pry on the pump to remove it from its place:
On VAZ 2114 cars, the body structure is arranged in such a way that to remove the water pump, you first need to raise the engine a little with a jack so that there are no problems with dismantling the pump. And only after that you can remove this part for subsequent replacement.
Installation is carried out in reverse order. And note that the gasket must be installed with a new one, and the place of the old one must be thoroughly cleaned to perfect cleanliness. The price of a new pump for a VAZ 2114 is from 500 to 800 rubles.
