Replacing the rear brake pads on a VAZ 2114-2115
As already described in one of the articles, the rear pads of the VAZ 2114-2115 brake mechanisms wear out more slowly than the front ones. But all the same, over time they should be replaced with new ones. Usually, a weak hand brake is the first sign of wear. Of course, you can tighten it, but the effectiveness of the brakes themselves will not improve from this. You can replace the rear brake pads with a VAZ 2114-2115 on your own, and for this you need a minimum of tools:
- deep head 7
- ratchet handle or crank
- flat screwdriver
- long nose pliers or pliers
First, slightly unscrew the wheel bolts, then lift the rear of the car and remove the wheel completely. Then it is necessary to unscrew the two drum guide pins and remove it.
Now you can proceed directly to removing the pads. On the right side in the center there is a small spring that can be removed with long-nose pliers, as shown in the photo:
Then, applying a certain force to the upper spring using a flat screwdriver, we try to remove it by pressing on one end:
As a result, the following picture is obtained:
Now the right block can be taken down, since nothing holds it from above:
And remove it from the bottom spring:
Now it remains to dismantle the left side. To do this, first remove the spacer plate:
Then, using long-nose pliers, we remove the cotter pin from the stem of the parking brake lever, as clearly shown in the photo:
And we take out the lever, having previously released it from its engagement with the handbrake cable:
And also having thrown off the spring now from the left block in the center, you can easily remove the rest of it:
It is worth buying new brake pads for the rear wheels in advance and installing them on the car in the reverse order. As for the prices for VAZ 2114-2115 for these components, they vary from 400 to 800 rubles, and it all depends on the manufacturer and place of purchase.
