This April, as the world was hiding in its holes and rubbing its bags with alcohol, it was 104 years since the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of what is arguably the craziest car company on the planet.

You must have heard that it all started with tractors and that the Miura is the first supercar in history. But here are 10 more facts from the history of Lamborghini that are not so well known.

1. Lamborghini conceived a company in Rhodes

During World War II, Ferruccio was a mechanic in the Italian Air Force based on the Greek island of Rhodes. He became famous for his exceptional talent for improvisation and the manufacture of spare parts from comfortable materials. Even then, he decided to start his own engineering company if he returned home safely.

2. It all starts with tractors

Lamborghini still makes tractors. Ferruccio's first agricultural machines were assembled from what he found after the war. Today tractors can cost up to € 300.

3. An irritable Ferrari pointed out cars to him

The reason Ferrucho got into the cars was Enzo Ferrari. Already wealthy, Lamborghini drove a Ferrari 250 GT, but was amazed to find that this sports car uses the same traction as its tractors. He asked to be replaced. Enzo Ferrari was rude and Ferruccio decided to rub his nose.

Six months later, the first Lamborghini appeared - 350 GTV.

4. The first car did not have an engine

However, the first Lambo in question still didn't have an engine. To show it off at the Turin Auto Show, engineers stuffed bricks under the hood and locked it so it wouldn't open.

5. "If you are already someone, buy a Lamborghini"

The Lamborghini Miura, introduced in 1966, was the most impressive car of its time. “If you want to be somebody, you buy a Ferrari. If you're already someone, you're buying a Lamborghini,” said one of Miura's owners, someone named Frank Sinatra. In the photo, his car, which has survived to this day.

6. He nearly sent Miles Davis to jail

Miura almost ended the career of the great jazzman Miles Davis. In one of the difficult periods, the musician made a crazy maneuver with a car and was badly crashed, breaking both legs. Luckily for him, a passerby came to the rescue before the police arrived and managed to throw three packs of cocaine out of the car, which could have sent Miles to jail for quite some time.

7. The name of the legendary model is actually a curse

Countach, another legendary model of the company, is actually named after a dialectal obscene word. The name was given by Nucho Bertone (pictured), the head of the design studio of the same name, who, upon seeing the first draft of the prototype, exclaimed "Kuntas!" is an exclamation that, in his Piedmontese speech, is usually used for a particularly attractive woman. The author of the project was Marcello Gandini himself.

8. All other names are associated with bulls

Almost all other Lambo models are named after bullfighting elements. Miura is the owner of the famous bull ranch in the arena. Espada is the matador's sword. Gaillardo is a breed of bulls. "Diablo", "Murcielago" and "Aventador" are the names of individual animals that have become famous in the arena. And the Urus, one of the latest additions to this range, is a long-extinct prehistoric mammal, the ancestor of modern bulls.

9. Police Lambo for organ transport

The Italian police owned two Gallardo service vehicles specially equipped for the emergency transport of organs for transplantation. However, one of them was completely destroyed in a crash in 2009.

10. You can also buy an Aventador without tires

Aventador is not only a sports car, but also a boat. Together with partners from the yachting sector, Lamborghini also creates luxury creations for watercraft. But the water version of the Aventador is almost three times more expensive than the land version.
