10 best models with the least rust

Every car loses its luster over time - some relatively slowly, others faster. Rust is the biggest enemy of any metal machine. Thanks to new painting and varnishing technologies, this process can be slowed down over time. Carsweek conducted a study to show which of the models produced this century are the most resistant to this unpleasant process.
10. BMW 5 Series (E60) - 2003-2010
The lacquer finish is durable, as is the corrosion protection. The problems with this model come from the front. The metal of the panels itself is not subject to corrosion, but rust appears on some of the connecting elements.
9. Opel Insignia - 2008-2017
The Insignia was a pivotal model for Opel, an attempt by the company to regain faith in the quality of its vehicles that had been lost over the previous decade. Insignia receives a special anti-corrosion coating, and the paint, although not too thick, is of good quality.
8. Toyota Camry (XV40) – 2006-2011.
The lacquer is quite thin and the surfaces wear out, especially in the area of the door handles. Overall, however, rust protection is at a high level, and Camry retains a good appearance even after aging - with signs of wear, but no rust.
7. BMW 1 Series - 2004-2013
Here the usual good lacquer protection is reinforced with galvanized sheet of panels.
6. Lexus RX – 2003-2008
The luxury Japanese brand also has a representative in this ranking, and here, like the Camry, the lacquer coating is relatively thin, but the corrosion protection is high. In general, other models of the brand, released during this period, are also doing well.
5. Volvo XC90 – 2002-2014.
This crossover is made by the Swedes and is supposed to be used in countries where cold and humidity are common. Rust protection is at a high level, and problems appear only in some places on car bumpers.
4. Mercedes S-Class (W221) - 2005-2013
As befits a flagship brand, everything here is at a high level. This applies to both the lacquer coating and additional anti-corrosion treatment. Corrosion can occur but is usually rare.
3. Volvo S80 - 2006-2016
Another Volvo model in this ranking, as it is also quite resilient to natural disasters. Problems with this are also mainly related to the bumper mountings, where rust can appear.
2. Audi A6 – 2004-2011.
Rust problems in the fenders are very rare on this car. The lid and side panels are made of Audi branded aluminum alloys and are generally not rusty.
1. Porsche Cayenne - 2002-2010
The Cayenne has a fairly thick paintwork. Also, without saving, an anti-corrosion layer is applied. Rust can appear on several border areas with plastic parts on the body.
