Test drive the 10 most anticipated electric vehicles in the coming year
Content
In recent years, electric vehicles have made great strides, but so far remain exotic. In the next 12 months it will depend on them whether they become a real competitor to conventional cars. Many premieres are expected, but the fate of electric transport in Europe will largely depend on the next 10.
1BMW i4
When: 2021
The model you see is a concept version, but the production version will not differ significantly from it. Its exact figures are not yet known.
The prototype has 523 horsepower, accelerates to 100 km / h in 4 seconds. and accelerates to a maximum of 200 km / h. The battery is only 80 kWh, but since this is a new generation, it should last for 600 km.
2 Dacia Spring Electric
When: 2021
The Renault Group assures us that the Spring Electric will be the cheapest electric vehicle in Europe when it goes on sale early next year. The starting price is likely to be around 18-20 thousand euros.
The distance on a single charge will be 200 kilometers. Spring is based on the Renault K-ZE model sold in China, which uses a 26,9 kilowatt-hour battery.
3 Fiat 500 Electric
When: already on sale
The combination of one of the city's most charming cars and an electric vehicle was eagerly awaited. The Italians promise a mileage of up to 320 km on a single charge and 9 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h.
Another plus is the 3 kilowatt charger that simply plugs into an outlet at home without the need for special installation.
4 Ford Mustang Mach-E
When: at the end of 2020
Traditional Mustang fans are not keen on using the legendary name for something electrically powered. But otherwise, Mach-E is preparing to compete with Tesla's new Model Y.
The manufacturer promises a lot for success: range from 420 to 600 km, less than 5 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h (fastest modification) and the ability to charge at 150 kW.
5 Mercedes EQAs
When: early 2021
It will be the first all-electric compact SUV on the market. Mercedes promises to offer it with a wide range of batteries.
Even the cheapest version can travel 400 km without recharging. The design will be very close to EQC.
6 Mitsubishi Outlander sperm
When: 2021
First plug-in hybrid sold in very large quantities in Europe. The new car will have a bolder (not more beautiful) design - the Engelberg Tourer concept.
The model is expected to receive a new version of the 2,4-liter petrol engine, coupled with a larger battery than the previous generation.
7 Skoda Enyak
When: January 2021
The first purely electric car of the Czech brand is built on the same MEV platform as the new Volkswagen ID.3. It will be slightly smaller than the Kodiaq, but with plenty of Skoda-style interior space.
The first journalists to test the working prototype praised the ride quality. The range will be between 340 and 460 kilometers according to the manufacturer's data. The electric vehicle also supports charging at 125 kW, giving 80% charge in just 40 minutes.
8 Tesla Model Y
When: Summer 2021
A more affordable crossover could be a model to move Tesla into the mainstream carmaker. As with Model 3, Europeans will receive it a year later.
By the way, the two models are almost identical in terms of manufacturability.
9 Opel Mokka-e
When: Spring 2021
The second generation will have nothing to do with the previous one. The model will be built on the Peugeot CMP platform, similar to the new Corsa and Peugeot 208. However, it will be 120 kg lighter than them.
The electric version will use the same 50 kilowatt-hour battery and 136 horsepower electric motor. The travel range on a single charge will be about 320 km. The Mokka will also be the first model with an all-new Opel design.
10 Volkswagen ID.3
When: Available this week
The debut of VW's long-awaited pure electric vehicle has been delayed due to software issues, but these have already been fixed. In Western Europe, the price of this model will be identical to the price of diesel versions thanks to government assistance.
However, in many regions of the post-Soviet space, cars will cost more. A wide range of batteries extends the range of travel on a single charge from 240 to 550 km. The cabin has more space than the popular Golf.
