10 tall sedans that are not afraid of broken asphalt

Broken in the spring, even in large cities, the asphalt forces you to select a new car based on the size of its clearance. This is especially true when it is not about a crossover, but about an ordinary passenger car. The AvtoVzglyad portal has compiled a rating of “high” sedans, which are not afraid of not only city bumps, but also relative country roads.

It is clear that the easiest way to navigate off-road and deep potholes in the asphalt is on a frame all-wheel drive SUV with honest mechanical, rather than “electronic” differential locks. But what about a city dweller who needs a car only for traveling on urban asphalt and for calm movement to the country, and in spring and autumn, absolutely unimaginable holes form everywhere in this very asphalt?

While the public utilities fill them with temporary "blots" of bitumen with crushed stone, not only will you pierce all the wheels, but the bottom of the car will turn into one big dent, and the suspension arms will bend into spirals from constant contact with potholes. However, an urban civilian with the brainwashed by car advertisers does not at all have to spend extra hard-earned money on the purchase of an all-wheel drive crossover. It is enough to choose the usual type of car body - a sedan, but with one caveat: it must have a relatively large ground clearance.

I must say that most of the "high" sedans are concentrated in the budget segment of the car market. But even among the larger and more expensive cars, there are models with decent ground clearance. So, perhaps the highest cars in the current domestic car market were the “Frenchman” Peugeot 408 and LADA Vesta with an almost crossover ground clearance of 178 mm. It is clear that some of these millimeters can be eaten by the crankcase protection, but still, it is impressive.

Slightly his brother in the group PSA gave way to the Citroen C4. Between its "belly" and the surface there is 176 mm of air. Literally "breathes into the clearance" of the Datsun on-DO with a similar parameter equal to 174 mm. Following the leaders in a dense group are representatives of the most budget class of cars. The ground clearance of 170 mm is declared by the manufacturers of Renault Logan, Skoda Rapid and VW Polo Sedan.

Another representative of the state employees class, Nissan Almera, has a clearance of only 160 mm. This is all the more strange, since the machine is built on the same platform as the 170 mm Renault Logan. At the end of our rating, let's say that Toyota Camry and Hyundai Solaris have exactly the same ground clearance (160 mm) as Nissan Almera.
