145 years old vocational school in Lodz

The complex of secondary schools No. 19 named after. Karol Wojtyla in Lodz on the street. Żeromskiego 115 is the oldest vocational school in Lodz. On October 17-18, 2014, he celebrates the 145th anniversary of his educational activities. In the 115th century, when the city was experiencing an economic boom, industrialists from Łódź, with the participation of the city authorities, founded a school that produced educated workers for the local industry. Initial location on the square. Wolności turned out to be too modest premises for a developing school. At the beginning of the 60th century, the school was transferred to a new complex of educational, workshop and sports buildings on the then Panska Street, and now Żeromski Street, XNUMX. The school witnessed the dynamic development of the city, the emergence of industrial power, but also economic crises, war years and political changes. The school gave the city and the state thousands of graduates who continued their professional careers mainly in the manufacturing sector. In the record-breaking XNUMXs, individual age groups numbered over two thousand graduates. This is an invaluable contribution to the economic development of the region and the country. {$ in-article-module} The dominant fields of study include not only the entire range of textile professions, but also other professions necessary for the industrial needs of Łódź: mechanical, electrical and chemical. Currently, in various economic conditions, the school provides vocational training in a wide range: information technology, logistics and forwarding, photography, veterinary medicine, chemical analytics and, as one of the few in Poland, textile. This educational offering is in response to the changing economic conditions and expectations of lower secondary students.
