This was especially evident in the United States, where huge road cruisers with engines over 7 liters were abandoned in favor of smaller, inexhaustible units installed on more compact cars. It all started on October 17, 1973, when OPEC cut oil production and threatened an embargo on countries supporting Israel in the Yom Kippur War, which was the responsibility of the Arab members of the oil association. Then an embargo was introduced against the United States and Western European countries. It ended with a sharp rise in the price of crude oil, which affected the history of the automotive industry. The so-called disease era, as well as imported cars, mainly from Japan, began to gain in importance.
