Today, a potential buyer has to pay more than half a million euros for the Jaguar XJ220, but the history of this supercar is an example of a business failure. 

The car was put into production in 1992 and by 1994 only 281 units had been produced, despite the fact that there were about 1400 orders before the announcement of the serial version.

Before the start of mass production, Jaguar said that it would be a real beast that could compete with Lamborghini, Ferrari or Porsche. The original concept was to use a V12 engine. The concept car, unveiled in Birmingham on October 18, 1988, received positive reviews and people began to make significant contributions. Interestingly, some of them withdrew their payments when it was revealed that the center section of the Jaguar XJ220 would not have a V12 engine, but only a 6-liter turbocharged V3.5. In addition, the car has shrunk a bit.

Those who bought the production version could hardly complain - the car reached 550 hp, thanks to which it was able to accelerate to 349 km / h, and its traction capabilities were proven in 1991, when during prototype tests on the Nürburgring track: 7.
