2020 MG3 review

Here's a question for you: are you upgrading from an old machine? Say, a late 3s hatchback or an old big car? If you answered “Yes”, the MGXNUMX interior will surprise you - because for the money this is an interesting and beautifully designed interior.

The seats are upholstered in plaid patterned fabric, while the Excite model has "synthetic leather" bolsters to improve the ambiance a bit. The dashboard also has etched tartan and looks very stylish next to the bright and colorful 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

There is no doubt that the MG3 is built for the price.

There's a leather steering wheel to hold on to, as well as volume and cruise control buttons. The media system, as mentioned, has Apple CarPlay and is available with sat nav (optional on the Core, standard on the Excite), and when we tested it recently it worked pretty well.

You might say it's built for the price, but you might be surprised how good a cabin is for the money. But you're missing out on things like Android Auto, a digital speedometer, and you don't have dual-zone climate control in the Excite - only single-zone. Oh, and there's only one USB port.

The back seat is also surprisingly comfortable. At 182cm (6ft 0in), I could easily sit in my own driver's seat, with plenty of room for my knees and toes, as well as reasonable headroom. And if you have small children or grandchildren, there are dual ISOFIX child seat anchor points and three child seat top tethers.

The back seat is surprisingly comfortable.

Below we will talk about storage in the cab and luggage compartment.
