The Ford GT was created as a tribute to the four-time Le Mans winner, winner of the then undefeated Ferrari Ford GT40, which won the world's most prestigious hourly race from 1964 to 1969 inclusive. The second reason was the celebration of the company's centenary.

Ford GT has retained the original silhouette, characteristic swing door and sporty character. It was driven by an 8-liter V5,4 engine, which - thanks to supercharging - produced 558 hp. and allowed to accelerate to 100 km / h in 3,8 seconds, and the maximum speed was 330 km / h. It was the most expensive and prestigious car that Ford had to offer at the time, attracting many famous personalities. However, over time, interest in the model has declined.

The last vehicle to leave the Wixom factory on September 21, 2006 was number 4038, which meant that Ford had missed its 4500 vehicle production target.

Today Ford GT is a crazy spending of 250-300 thousand euros in Germany. All because of the small number of exported copies. It is estimated that only about a hundred copies of this model were sent to Europe.

A successor had to wait until last year when Ford began production of the second generation, this time with a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 656 hp. and 746 Nm of torque.
