It was good publicity needed to sell cars in the foreign exchange markets. When the production of the Fiat 125p began, a decision was made to establish the FSO Motorsport Center.

A Polish Fiat 125p in rally specification started on January 22, 1971 in the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally. Four crews were prepared for the competition, none of which finished the rally.
