25 Cars Nicolas Cage Owned (Before He Went Broke)

Nicolas Cage was born Nicolas Coppola. He is the nephew of famed director Francis Ford Coppola and it was inevitable that Nicolas would become an actor. With a career that began in the early 80s and included popular films such as Raising Arizona, Ghost rider, and my personal favorite, Leave in 60 seconds Cage has acquired a significant fortune over the years. So what does a minder do when he has money? Well, buy expensive cars of course! Nick Cage is no exception: his collection has grown to include Corvettes, classic Ferraris and beautiful antique Bugattis.

His personal collection has gone through some changes over the years but was significant before he fell out of favor in 2010 due to exorbitant purchases of expensive items such as castles, islands, houses and wells. From the beginning when he owned his beloved Triumph Spitfire to his wickedly exclusive and wickedly rare Enzo Ferrari, we've done our best to find out where some of these cars may have gone since owning Cage, how much he sold them for, and even some important details about their original ownership. Rarity plays a big role here, as most of these cars are among the few examples built. He even ordered a couple of them himself, like the six-speed manual Ferrari 599, or the simply stunning Miura SVJs, only five of which were ever built.

We hope you enjoy this list of cars from the eccentric spender, the big Hollywood star, and one of our favorite muscle heads, Nicolas Cage.

25 1963 Jaguar XKE featherweight competition

This beautiful and extremely rare featherweight Jaguar was owned by Nicolas Cage for a while as he prepared for his role as Memphis Raines in Gone in 60 seconds movie. He sold it in 2002, a couple of years after the film's release. The featherweight Jag has a racing history, having been Vara B production champion three years in a row without any DNF. According to XKE, the car was last seen in 2009 and is believed to be in Wisconsin now.

24 1959 Ferrari 250GT LWB California Spyder

Possibly one of Ferrari's most coveted 250 GT, of course Nicolas Cage owned it. Of the 51 long-wheelbase Californias, Nicholas owned number 34, which was originally purchased by Luigi Innocenti, the grandson of the founder of Innocenti SA, a scooter manufacturer. This is unusual as Luigi was a close friend of Enzo and personally selected some of the options such as flush door handles and custom satin trim. Nicholas sold this car in the early 2000s, which is a shame as the car was only worth about a few million dollars back then and today it is worth about $15 million.

23 1971 Lamborghini Miura Super Veloce Jota

Perhaps one of Nicolas Cage's most exorbitant purchases to put alongside a couple of islands he bought and lost is Miura, which once belonged to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran. Only 5 SVJs were built, and mechanically they weren't too different from the SVs except for a few cosmetic details. It was the first SVJ and is said to have been built by Ferruccio Lamborghini himself. Cage bought the car from him in 1997 at an auction for $450,000. He did not own the car for long and five years later, in 2002, he resold it.

22 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1992 1 year

Nic Cage bought this car in July 1992 after completing Honeymoon in Vegas with James Caan and Sarah Jessica Parker. He owned and drove the car for less than a year before selling it in 1993 after only 2,153 miles. The car has since passed from owner to owner and was last seen in 2011 at a dealership in Buffalo, NY for nearly $50,000 - perhaps Cage's ownership plays into value because that's a lot to Corvette ZR1 as the average price for one does not usually exceed $20,000.

21 Triumph Spitfire

Although Nicolas Cage is known for his focus on Ferraris and all things exciting, he is more humble and much more civilized than anything else on this list. He spoke fondly of the little Spitfire in an interview back in 2000, when he described sitting in a car pretending to be in good working order and driving it to the beach. When it finally got close to being serviceable, he found that it broke too often. He quickly abandoned it, selling it. He bought it back later and I'm guessing he fixed it before selling it again at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction in 2009 for $15,400.

20 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 "Eleanor"

After completing his hit film Gone in 60 seconds, Nicolas Cage was able to keep one of the survivors, Eleanor, according to IMDB. It looks like we couldn't find this particular Mustang anywhere for sale, so it could very well still be in Nic Cage's possession. Many copies of this car have been made and two of them were sold with it back in January of this year for around $160,000 each - the real surviving car from the movie sold for $385,000. We can only guess how much Cage or producer Jerry Bruckheimer might be worth.

19 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB

Only 33 of these ultra-rare six-speed stock 599 GTBs were made for the domestic market. Nicolas Cage's 599 GTB is also a bit more interesting because it also includes the HGTE handling package, which arguably makes it one of a kind. Not much is known about this true Ferrari enthusiast other than that Nicholas had to sell it for $599,120 to make up his losses when taxes caught up, leaving the world with another lucky owner of one of the most beautiful GTBs ever. ever made.

18 1954 Bugatti Type 101C

Another of Nicholas's most expensive purchases is an ominously rare Bugatti Type 101. Only seven of these cars exist due to growing problems at the Molsheim plant. The body was made by designer Jean Anthem and originally painted green. Now in red and black, Nicolas bought this car after he just finished 60 seconds have passed and shortly thereafter, in 2003, he sold it again. The car was sold again as recently as 2015 for around $2 million.

17 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT Alpine

Only six of these 2001 Diablos are known to exist in this orange colorway, and only 12 of the total produced had a special Alpine package that included some modern touches. Of course, given that Nicolas Cage was eyeing rarer things, he had one. He bought a new car and owned it until it was sold at auction in 2005 for $209,000. The car has since become notorious for being involved in an accident in Denver, Colorado. Repairs alone are valued at $10,000XNUMX!

16 Ferrari 1967 GTB/275 4 years old

Nicolas bought this Ferrari 275 GTB/4 back in 2007. He owned the car until 2014 when he sold it for around $3.2 million. The 275 GTB is known as the first double overhead cam Ferrari road car, and the 4 in the name refers to its four-cam drive. These cars are among the rarest Ferraris ever made. This copy had been in many hands over the years before Bill Jennings of New Hampshire sold it to Nick. Since the celebrity sold the car, it has remained in Southern California and is still cared for by Ferrari.

15 1970 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda

It looks like many of these cars won't last long for Cage. However, this car is a bit different as he owned it for a while before selling it in 2010. Nicholas is known for owning some of the most exclusive cars, as this list clearly shows, and this Plymouth is no exception. Only 284 four-speed manual transmissions were installed that year, and that's number 128. Also, there are only seven blacks on the black 426 Hemi 'Cuda, according to Chrysler's registry. This car is a great example of original muscle cars and definitely stands out from the many Ferraris on this list.

14 2003 Enzo Ferrari

It's no secret that Nicolas once owned a Ferrari Enzo. Unfortunately, he had to sell the exclusive Enzo when his tax problems caught up with him in 2009. He bought a new car in 2002 for around $670,000, however there is only speculation as to how much he sold the car for, with the value estimated at over a million dollars in 2010. Entzos is now worth nearly $3 million, and it's hard to guess how much Cage's Ferrari will be worth in today's market.

13 1993 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3

Nic Cage bought this relatively quiet 190E back in 1993. The car is equipped with an AMG driver package and remains original to this day, as it is in the Mercedes-Benz Museum. The car is powered by a 136 hp four-cylinder engine, which is pretty low compared to the Corvette and all the Ferraris that Nicolas Cage has owned over the years. However, it is a reliable driver's car that remains in the professional hands of Mercedes themselves, and they proudly display it on their website.

12 1955 Porsche 356 (Pre-A) Speedster

Pre-A Porsche 356 Speedster, one of my favorite cars of all time, was built almost exclusively for the US market since they were first sold here and quickly became popular, especially with celebrities. It wasn't until the following year that the Speedster was introduced to the European market. The Speedster became a favorite on the track because it was easy to set up for a race and revert to factory settings at any time. Nicolas Cage's Porsche was last seen in 2017 and sold for $255,750.

11 1963 Ferrari 250GT SWB Berlinetta

One of the last of its kind, built in 1963, this Ferrari was sold to Nicolas in 2006 after at least a dozen other owners. Cage owned it for a couple of years before selling it again to someone in Europe who recently sold it for $7.5 million. The SWB Berlinetta was built to further convey the experience of a road racing car, and was available in Lusso (road) and Competitzione (Competitive) specifications. Cage had a Lusso variant.

10 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray split window coupe

Flickr (like Nicolas Cage)

This Corvette was owned by Nicolas Cage until 2005 when it was sold to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale for $121,000. The split window Corvette is one of the most coveted of all the Stingray Corvette because the split window spine was only available that year due to customer complaints about visibility from the rear view mirror. 327ci V8 under the hood, mated to a four-speed manual transmission, makes this black beauty one of the most authentic corvettes of the Bill Mitchell era.

9 1965 Lamborghini 350GT

LamboCars (like Nicolas Cage)

Being one of Lamborghini's first cars, it's no surprise that Nicolas owned one of them, a silver 350GT that he eventually sold in 2002 for $90,000. The pre-Miura car had a 280-horsepower V12 engine driven by a five-speed manual transmission, all surrounded by a body designed by Franco Scaglione. Only 131 350GTs (including 2 prototype GTVs) were built in the three years before the model was replaced by the 400GT. Most of the original 350GTs remain today, although some of them feature 400GT tuning, blurring the line between Lamborghini's first and second car offerings.

8 1958 Ferrari 250GT Pininfarina

Pinterest (like Nicolas Cage)

Another fine example of Nicolas Cage's famous 250 GT line, the Pininfarina was built more civilized than the average 250 GT, and meant more for cruising the Riviera than the scorching autobahns. A lot of personalization has gone into the Pininfarina when customers order their cars and each one is different from the rest, inevitably making this car one of a kind. However, the version owned by Cage was built as a spider to make a comfortable ride more sporty. It came with a headrest and a low profile windshield.

7 '1939 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante coupe

Originally owned by Lord George Hugh Cholmondeley of the UK, this Bugatti was imported to the US in the mid-50s. It went through several owners before a Japanese collector finally sold it to Nic Cage. The car was last sold in 2004 at RM Auction in Phoenix, Arizona for over half a million dollars. The T57 remains today one of Bugatti's finest antique models, as well as the most common. The T57 is also the last hit for Bugatti, as the Type 101 was the latest nail for the company.

6 Rolls-Royce Phantom

Another expensive purchase for Nicolas Cage was not one, but nine Rolls-Royce Phantoms, which cost about $450,000 each. To save all of you kind people the headache and looking for a calculator, only 4.05 million dollars - only on the Rolls-Royce Phantom! My guess is that he had to get rid of them when he was prosecuted for overspending and tax evasion. However, I hope he still has another Phantom that he owned and used during filming. Sorcerer's Apprentice.
