The German people's car survived the fall of the Third Reich.

The difficult post-war times did not prevent the plant in Wolfsburg from starting mass production of the Zhuk, although not without problems, including with factory equipment, its condition and the availability of steel. However, Volkswagen overcame the difficulties and began selling cars not only in Germany, but also in foreign markets. Already in 1949, the "Beetle" appeared in the United States.

On December 28, 1957, the anniversary of the production of two million Volkswagen cars took place. Today, the Volkswagen concern produces more than 10 million vehicles annually and annually competes with Toyota for leadership in the global passenger car market.
