The turn signal on your vehicle is installed at the front and rear of the vehicle, on both the left and right sides. As soon as your turn signal is activated, the left or right side lights flash to indicate which way you are turning. Some modern cars have turn indicators on the driver's and passenger's side mirrors.

How to check the turn signal

If you suspect that one of your turn signals is defective, you can test it without any equipment. A bad turn signal is usually indicated by a fast flash when you turn on the turn signal. To check the signals, turn on the car and park it. To check the right turn signal, move the turn signal up. With the car still in the parking lot, get out of the car and see if the signal is flashing on the front, rear and right side. Then get back in the car and fully lower the turn signal, indicating a left turn. Get out of the car and check if the light is flashing in the front and rear on the left side. If one of the lights is off or flashes quickly, you may need to replace the light bulb.

Possible problems with turn signals

If the turn signals come on but don't flash, it's time to replace the flasher. If there are no turn signals on either side, check the fuse, it may be defective. Another problem is that both turn signals on one side do not work. This may indicate faulty lamps or poor grounding in both housings. If one signal lamp does not light when checking the turn signal, check the cartridge for corrosion, replace the lamp and check the ground in the cartridge. It is recommended that AvtoTachki inspect your vehicle in case the turn signal switch needs to be replaced.

Basic laws of turn signals

While driving, you must use the turn signal. If you do not use the signal when changing lanes, turning or making other maneuvers while driving, you may be stopped and called to a police officer.

Turn signals inform other motorists of your intentions while driving. If one or more of your bulbs is not working, see a mechanic if the problem is more complicated than just replacing the bulb.
