Top 5 Diesel Sports Cars - Sports Cars

We had a lot of fast cars this year, and they were all very funny when it came to driving fast, but the truth is that 80% of the time we spend slowly, driving in the city or on the highway, and now you would like a diesel impatiently.

Take, for example, Golf R: very fast and practical car, but consumes exactly one Ferrari even driving at 30 km / h.

Fortunately, there are a few diesel models on the list (yes) that are a lot of fun but are not used as oil tankers. Until a few years ago, diesel engines were meant for tractors and trucks, but the engines we find in some cars today have nothing to envy of gasoline engines. Let's see together which of the best diesel models on the market will not make you regret a gasoline-powered sports car.

Peugeot 308 GTD

La 308 is one of Peugeot the most successful in recent years. Its chassis is stiff and responsive, and the small video game steering makes it agile and fun even in the 1.6 diesel version. The French, however, had a great idea and decided to give us a version with a 2.0-liter 180 hp diesel. and 400 Nm of torque versus 205 hp. and 285 Nm of torque in the turbo petrol version of the GT 1.6. The setup and tires are the same for the two versions, but the diesel version makes up for the lack of those 20 hp. high torque, and, above all, a consumption of 25 km / l in the combined cycle.

Volvo V40 D4

In Italy we hear too little about it, but Volvo builds great cars. I had the pleasure to try V40 in several variants, and I was impressed by the chassis and steering of this car. D4 version with 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque moves like a train and has such cornering support that is contrary to Volvo's “safe and quiet car” philosophy. The manual transmission is also great.

Golf GTD

Yes, even in this case – as in the case of Peugeot – the diesel version of the German sports compact par excellence offers countless benefits. There Golf GTi it has never been an extreme sports car, but an everyday car capable of delivering pleasure when it meets a series of corners. There GTD takes the Golf's user-friendliness to a higher level: the credit goes to the 2.0 TDI with 184 hp. and 380 Nm, an engine that really works. The 6-speed DSG transmission will also make the GTD seem even faster.

Mini Cooper SD

It's not new that Mini it is a fun car to drive even in its simplest versions. With the latest generation, the Cooper has lost some of the stiffness and agility that has always distinguished it, but remains one of the best compact cars on the market. If version SD had the sound of a gasoline version S, there would be nothing like it. The 2.0-liter BMW pushes the Mini forward effortlessly with 170bhp. and 360 Nm of torque.

It may not have the 2.0 turbo sound, but it offers the same pleasure, more torque, and doesn't consume as the Boing 747.

BMW 125d

After trying BMW125dbetter hard to find. The only compact rear-wheel drive (for a while) comes with one of the best diesels in circulation. Its 2.0-liter Twin Scroll engine develops 218 hp. and 450 Nm of torque, and its power corresponds to the speed of an atmospheric engine.

The steering is precise and direct and you just have to turn off the electronics to have fun blowing up the rear wheels. The 125 d accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6,3 seconds and is available with two exceptional gearboxes: a six-speed manual gearbox and / or an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

She is our winner.
