5 Honda Models Winning Top Safety Pick+ in 2022

The five Honda models that received the Top Safety Pick+ award fall into several categories. In the small car class, the awards went to the 2022 Honda Civic four-door hatchback, Civic four-door sedan and Insight four-door sedan.

Honda Civic sedan and HB

For the most part, the test results for the 2022 Honda Civic sedan and hatchback were nearly identical, with outstanding performance across all seven crash test metrics. This is in addition to the headlights being rated "Good" for all trim levels of the Civic. Finally, accident prevention systems are also rated as "excellent".

However, there were two minor issues with the calf/foot and rider restraint systems and the dummy kinematics in regards to the passenger side small overlap frontal crash test. But their injury scores were good enough for both to be rated "satisfactory."

Honda Insight

The 2022 Honda Insight fared even better than the Civic. This hybrid scored "good" in all tests, but measures pelvis and leg injuries in the rear passenger side crash test. But the IIHS still rated Insight's work in this area as "acceptable."

Honda Accord and Honda Odyssey

The last two TSP+ models are the Honda Accord midsize sedan and the Odyssey minivan. For the 2022 Accord, the only downside in the test results were the headlights. Some of the lower trim levels were rated "Acceptable", while their more expensive alternatives were rated "Good". However, the "acceptable" rating is still good enough for cars to make the Top Safety Pick+ list.

As for Odyssey, he had two small problems. First, the IIHS rated the headlights on all trim levels as "acceptable" rather than "good". The other was in a small overlap frontal crash test where the passenger side frame and roll cage were "acceptable" rather than "good".
