50 shades of monopoly

One of the most popular games in the world has many faces. A version with a payment card terminal, with Elsa from Frozen, with Game of Thrones, Friends, a football club, important Polish cities and even in the world of a computer game. Now it's millennial time!

January 5, 1904 Elizabeth Magie Phillips, not yet XNUMX years old, enters the Illinois Patent Office and changes the history of analog entertainment forever by patenting the first version of the game we know today as Monopoly. One hundred and fifteen years later, a completely different Ela walks into the store looking for a birthday present for her best friend. He wants to buy Monopoly, but instead of one game, he sees a whole bookcase with different versions of it. Which one will he buy? Let's check …

Probably most, if not all, of you have played the classic Monopoly at least once. There was a lot of excitement at the table, and usually the winner was the one who ... looked after the bank. I thought? On the board were the districts of Warsaw, divided into two or three streets. Today you can play on the maps of other Polish cities such as Gdansk, Krakow, Wroclaw or Torun. It is interesting that in the Krakow edition the most expensive (the most productive) place was chosen by the inhabitants of the city - the winner, of course, was the Wawel Royal Castle. The Gdańsk edition also focuses not so much on the streets as in the original 1992 Warsaw edition, but on places that are important today – we can buy the Forum Gdańsk, the Shakespeare Theater or the World War II Museum. War.

However, local, urban versions of Monopoly are only the beginning of the journey. If we are fans of cashless transactions, we can turn to Monopoly Ultra Banking, which offers card payments. On the other side of the scale you will find Anti-Monopoly, a version of the game in which we can become small entrepreneurs fighting against the monopoly of large corporations. If you want to add even more randomness to the game, be sure to try the Monopoly jackpot, where you can instantly get rich by spinning roulette ... or lose it all! The world of Monopoly can really surprise you, allowing players to travel back in time to the bittersweet times of the People's Republic of Poland, invest in different types of...pizza, and even play with golden pawns! However, nothing compares to Millennial Monopoly, where we can cozy up with our parents in the basement, and the peak of our dream is a weekend trip to a meditation camp.

I don't know about you, but I have some of my favorite shows. There are ten seasons of Friends on the shelf, which of course has its own version of Monopoly! The board contains photos of the coolest scenes from the lives of Chandler, Monica and others, and as we play, we collect iconic items from the series. The Big Bang Theory brings other changes - instead of hotels, we put the Large Hadron Collider here, and instead of the Social Fund we open Prediction Cookies. Game of Thrones is much darker. The dark board shows the most important locations from the entire series, and one of the pieces we're playing is the Iron Throne itself! For cartoon lovers, Monopoly also has a few offerings, the most interesting of which is perhaps Rick and Morty, in which we travel all over the ridiculous alternate universe, Pokémon, where we build Pokémon Centers and Pokémarkets, trying to "collect them." All!" and Dragon Ball Z Monopoly, allowing you to take on the role of one of the warriors against the Red Ribbon Army and face off against Bulma and the Glittering Turtle. I was probably most intrigued by the version of The Walking Dead in which instead of a property tax we face Negan's baseball bat. A sip!

Go to jail!

Did you think it was all over? Where else! PC players can play a dueling version of Fortnite, two versions of Mario: Monopoly Gamer (the most advanced and "playable" of the Monopoly titles) and Mario Kart, as well as Assassin's Creed, Halo, Uncharted, and Fallout. What about football fans? Here you are: collect players from FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea London or Manchester City! If you measure distances in light years, try the Han Solo edition, and if you prefer the octaves and graceful rhythms of an all-time Liverpool hypergroup, The Beatles.

As you can see, the world of Monopoly is really huge, and I haven’t even stumbled upon the younger versions yet…
