In the early 90s, sales of cars from the French manufacturer in the demanding American market were abandoned.

In the United States, Peugeot was a niche company until the very end, despite offering its products for 30 years. The 405s sold several thousand units a year, and were typically a 1990 model. At the same time, over a million Peugeots left showrooms in Europe. In 4261, sales in America fell to one, prompting the company to leave the US the following year. So far, Peugeot in the USA is probably associated only with the Columbo car, but only with those who remember this old series.
