7 important items in the car, without which it is contraindicated to drive
The larger the trunk, the greater the chances that it will be clogged with unnecessary rubbish, among which, as a rule, there is no room for the most necessary - something that will certainly come in handy on the road, and will not lie in reserve for some unforeseen event. So what do you need to carry in your car?
Sometimes, looking into the car to a neighbor, you wonder how cluttered the luggage compartment is. What compatriots don’t carry in the trunks of their cars: old bags, rags, a folding barbecue, cuttings of plastic sewer pipes, old beer bottles, a children’s scooter, stacks of newspapers…
Meanwhile, first of all, in the car there should not be an expired first aid kit with a complete, but preferably an extended list of first aid equipment, a fire extinguisher, a reflective vest and an emergency sign.
Next, you should check the presence and condition of the spare wheel. On a long journey, it will be better if your spare tire matches the diameter of the other wheels. If something happens, you just change the punctured wheel and continue the trip at a speed that is comfortable for you. Some automakers, in order to save money, put, instead of a full-size spare tire, a dokatka. This short wheel is suitable only for a short trip to the nearest tire shop at a speed not exceeding 80 km / h.
Some of the manufacturers even throw a repair kit into the trunk in the form of a spray can with an all-penetrating sealing liquid, which allows, just like with a dokatka, to drive on a broken wheel to the nearest service station. In any case, before the trip, make sure that you have something from this list in case of an unforeseen event.
After checking for a spare tire or alternatives, make sure you bring a compressor or hand pump to inflate your tires. A manual pump is a chore, long and inconvenient, but still better than nothing. But an electric compressor will make life on the road much easier for you, and, possibly, for someone else who is in a difficult situation on the road.
It would be strange to take a spare tire and a compressor with you, but not to put a jack and a “spoon wrench” in the trunk to unscrew the bolts on the wheels. Yes, if your car's wheels are equipped with locking bolts, do not forget to make sure that the desired “head” that fits them is in your glove compartment or in your tool box. Otherwise, in the event of a tire breakdown, you will have to call a tow truck, and then drill a “secret”, which will require considerable expenses.
In winter, and in summer, if the generator malfunctions, you may also need wires for “lighting up”. If you don't need it, someone else will need it. But they definitely won’t be superfluous in the trunks, as well as a special portable device for starting the engine with a dead battery.
If you are planning a trip to regions where good gas stations are rare, then the supply of the “correct” fuel from a trusted operator should definitely be carried in the luggage compartment. A twenty liter canister will be enough to provide your car with quality fuel before you find the gas station of your favorite brand. Fortunately, thin expeditionary canisters, which practically do not take up space in the trunk, are not a problem to find today.
And, of course, his majesty is a tow rope. In winter, it is the most sought-after item in your trunk. Therefore, do not forget to make sure the integrity, and, most importantly, the presence of the cable. By the way, it is better to buy a reinforced cable or a dynamic line at all. They will last longer, and it’s a pleasure to take out stuck “dummies” with them, including yourself.
