Adaptive ESP

Adaptive ESP is basically an advanced ESP skid correction system. AE can change the type of intervention depending on the weight of the vehicle and therefore on the load that is currently being transported. ESP uses some information that comes from the car itself in motion: 4 sensors (1 for each wheel) built into the wheel hub that tell the control unit the instantaneous speed of each individual wheel, 1 steering angle sensor that tells the position of the steering wheel and therefore the intentions of the driver, 3 accelerometers (one per spatial axis), usually located in the center of the car, which indicate the forces acting on the car to the control unit.

The control unit influences both the power supply of the engine and the individual brake calipers, correcting the dynamics of the vehicle. The brakes are applied, especially in the case of understeer, by braking the rear wheel inside the bend, while in the case of oversteer, the front wheel is braked outside the bend. This system is usually associated with traction control systems and wheel anti-lock brakes.
