AIR SHOW 2017 history and present

We are talking about this year's AIRSHOW in Radom with the Director of the Organizing Bureau Colonel Kazimierz Dynski.

We are talking about this year's AIRSHOW in Radom with the Director of the Organizing Bureau Colonel Kazimierz Dynski.

The international air show AIR SHOW 2017 will be held on August 26 and 27. Is the list of participants published on the organizer's website final?

Colonel Kazimierz DYNSKI: On the last weekend of August, Radom, like every two years, will become the Polish capital of aviation. Providing beautiful and safe shows is the primary task of the AVIA SHOW 2017 Organizing Bureau. We are constantly working on the list of participants and do not consider it closed. We are making efforts to enrich the show program with additional aircraft, including aircraft of a foreign civil aerobatic team. Every day of the event we expect the show until 10 o'clock. But it's not just the eye-catching airshow that makes this year's edition unique. It is also a broad offer, designed for those who want to see the potential and weapons of all branches of the armed forces. Sky viewers will have the opportunity to see state-of-the-art military equipment and individual soldier equipment not normally available to the public.

This year the AIRSHOW is held under the motto of the 85th anniversary "Challenge 1932". So what can we expect during the AIR SHOW?

AIR SHOW is an opportunity to see the history and present of Polish and world wings. This year, the fifteenth in a row, the air show is held under the motto of the 85th anniversary of the "Challenge of 1932". The shows are organized in honor of the anniversary of the bold victory of the Poles - Captain Franciszek Zwirka and engineer Stanisław Wigura in 1932 in the International Tourist Aircraft Competition. Organized in the interwar period, the "Challenge" was one of the most difficult and demanding competitions of its kind in the world, both in terms of piloting skill and technique, and in terms of the achievements of aviation thought and technology. It is in memory of this event that the Day of Polish Aviation is celebrated on August 28. I think that this year's exhibitions will be a great opportunity to pay tribute to those who have made history in Polish aviation. As part of the popularization of the defense industry, we want to acquaint viewers with the history and modern capabilities of aviation. This year's shows, in addition to entertainment value, are an educational package - thematic zones dedicated not only to children and teenagers, but also to adult viewers.

What attractions are we talking about?

In the historical zone we will see the RWD-5R aircraft, which will open the air parade of the Air Force ships. There will also be thematic exhibitions organized by the Air Force Museum and the Polish Aviation Museum, as well as competitions called "Heavenly Figures of Żwirka and Wigura" organized by the Military Center for Civic Education and the General Command Club. A novelty will be the High Flying Culture Zone, dedicated to aviation in film and photography. The Fly Film Festival tent cinema, near which an aerial photography exhibition will be located, will open its doors to the audience. The makers of the highly anticipated 303 Squadron movie will appear alongside a replica of the Hurricane aircraft. The Aviation Laboratory, prepared by the Education Support Fund under the Aviation Valley Association, will operate in the children's zone. Visitors will learn, for example, why an airplane flies. The math zone is puzzles and tasks to be solved. For the curious, there will also be a Constructor's Zone, an Experimental Zone, aircraft and glider simulators. All this to provide a wide range of attractions for spectators.

Aerobatic teams from abroad participated in previous editions of the show, this year there are none - why?

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces sent invitations to participate in AIR SHOW 2017 to 30 countries. We have received confirmation of the participation of aircraft from 8 countries. Unfortunately, there were no military aerobatic teams in this group. The reason is the rich plan of aviation events, which has 14 world / European teams, including: Thunderbirds, Frecce Tricolori or Patrulla Aguila. I am convinced that we will ensure the participation of aerobatic teams of this class in the next edition of the shows scheduled for the 100th anniversary of Polish aviation.
