First, we need to check the electrolyte level. Remember that it is best to do this after the car has been parked for a long time. If the level is too low, just add distilled water. Charging will be done the next time you drive. When replenishing large electrolyte deficiencies, it is better to remove the battery and connect it to the charger. However, do not forget to unscrew the plugs during such charging. Otherwise, the most unpleasant consequence will be just an explosion of the “battery”.
Secondly, you should take care of the clamps. We definitely need to lubricate them with technical petroleum jelly. If necessary, it would be worth cleaning them, and sometimes even replacing them.
Even if the battery is already dead, we can save money by, for example, borrowing electricity. It's just connecting cables. It is important to connect the negative electrode first. It is also important that the car from which we borrow electricity has a slightly warm engine. During this operation, the power unit of the “donor” must maintain a sufficiently high speed.
After all, you can always buy a new battery. Once every few years it would even be appropriate to avoid disappointments. To be sure, we can test the “battery” in the workshop. We will at least find out if it will function and for how long. When buying, we must remember to choose the right battery for our car. Buying a larger or smaller one is not worth it, both will not work properly.
