Accessories for campers. What's worth having?

Campervan accessories is an extremely broad topic as there are many different types of solutions and gadgets that are designed to make campervan travel more enjoyable. We will try to present you with some basic, but perhaps also the most interesting, but we will certainly not exhaust the topic. This is simply impossible!

Gadgets in the camper

There are thousands of them, both for small bus-based campers and for large complex vehicles. Smaller vehicles may be worth equipping with an external camping wardrobe, for example - this will certainly be useful for keeping your clothes organized during long camping stays. A professional hiking wardrobe at Decathlon costs around PLN 400, but on the Internet you can also find practical folding portable wardrobes for PLN 100-200. If we don't have a bathroom and only have an outdoor shower, we can also think about a tented shower stall that will provide us with comfort and privacy while bathing.

We have a very large offer on the market of various types of luggage nets, organizers (for the back of the driver's seat) or large luggage racks with many compartments. These types of solutions are usually inexpensive, help keep a small space organized, and allow you to quickly find what you need. Anyone who drives a campervan knows that things aren't always that simple.

What camper accessories should you choose? 

Accessories for campers is an inexhaustible topic that you can write about for a very long time. They include smaller elements such as a rear view camera or a bike rack (available in two versions with or without a cover). Some accessories require a larger investment, such as air conditioning, solar panels or skylights.

A wide range of smaller additives are available on the market, such as: 

• special cutlery for the camper,
• camping chairs, 
• lightweight melanin dishes that will not break when moving or sharp braking,
• external entrance steps. 

Covers, curtains, awnings and vestibules 

We use them to protect ourselves from wind, cold, sun or rain. A wall-mounted awning installed along the car allows you to increase your “own territory”, while protecting from the bright sun and providing pleasant shade. Sample price? Thule Omnistor 5200 with the possibility of extension to 2 meters costs approximately 4 zlotys. The price, of course, is determined by issues such as the quality of workmanship, as well as its dimensions and the material used. If the awning is not enough, you can place the vestibule in front of the camper (although in front of the caravan this is a much more common solution). Recently, inflatable vestibules have become very popular, as they can be easily and very quickly installed.

If you plan not to use the camper for a long time, it is worth protecting it from adverse weather conditions with a special cover. Prices for good covers for a medium-sized camper start from 2000 PLN. Covers also have an additional use during winter car travel: they help retain the heat generated inside the car.

Chemistry for the toilet in the camper

Let's take a look at the place where even the king walked. For most RVers, it is “obvious” that we use chemicals in the RV toilet. The chemicals thrown into the toilet cassette, whether they are in liquid or soluble capsules, perform a variety of tasks. We are talking, of course, about sanitary safety, but also about comfort and convenience. Chemicals eliminate unpleasant odors and make emptying the toilet cassette easier. Unfortunately, chemicals are not cheap, but there is no point in looking for savings here. Cheaper solutions available online and outside specialty stores often offer relatively poor quality and effectiveness. Let us also remind you that you cannot use standard toilet paper in tourist and cassette toilets, as it can clog the cassette. It is highly recommended to use special paper for tourist toilets, as it dissolves easily in water.

When should you make a purchasing decision? 

When purchasing a camper, you should consider larger accessories. Their installation will be easier and therefore cheaper in the case of a new car or first aftermarket. There are hundreds of small gadgets and accessories on the market. Most tourists make purchasing decisions based on their own experiences. After several trips, trips and living in a camper for a longer period of time, it will be easier to decide what exactly we need.
