However, the preliminary agreement does not guarantee that both parties will sign the contract. For the French, the biggest hurdle will be financial. Cyril Abitebul even recently said that the salaries of pilots should be limited in parallel with a budget cut.

On the other hand, Renault must categorically show Alonso that he has the strength to fight again for a place on the podium and, ultimately, for victories.
