Hepu antifreezes: characteristics and scope
Not many auto chemical companies can boast such a wide range of coolants as Hepu. Among Hepu antifreezes there are both simple antifreezes of class G11 and high-tech propylene glycol concentrates of class G13.
Let's take a quick look at a few of the most common coolants from Hepu.
- Hepu P999 YLW. Yellow concentrate, available in containers of 1.5, 5, 20 and 60 liters. Three Latin letters in the name YLW stand for "Yellow", which means "Yellow" in English. This coolant complies with class G11, that is, it incorporates a set of so-called chemical (or inorganic) additives. These additives create a protective film on the entire inner surface of the cooling jacket. This effect protects the system, but somewhat reduces the intensity of heat transfer. Therefore, this antifreeze is poured mainly into non-hot motors. The yellow color also indicates that antifreeze is more suitable for cooling systems with copper radiators, although it can also be used in aluminum ones. The price for 1 liter is about 300 rubles.
- Hepu P999 grn. Green concentrate created according to the G11 standard. As in the case of the P999 YLW, the combination GRN means "Green", which translates from English as "Green". It has an almost identical composition with the previous coolant, but is more suitable for copper radiators. The price of a liter, depending on the seller's margin, varies from 300 to 350 rubles.
- Hepu P999 G12. Class G12 concentrate, which is produced by the company in various containers: from 1,5 to 60 liters. Based on ethylene glycol. The color of the concentrate is red. In the composition of additives, it mainly contains carboxylate compounds. Does not contain inorganic additives that reduce the intensity of heat transfer. Has recommendations from VAG and GM. Suitable for use in systems with both a cast iron block and cylinder head, and with aluminum parts. The cost of 1 liter is about 350 rubles.
- Hepu P999 G13. A high-tech concentrate originally developed by VAG for new cars. It uses propylene glycol instead of ethylene glycol. These two substances are similar in working properties, but propylene glycol is less toxic to humans and the environment. This coolant is produced in containers of 1,5 and 5 liters. The price per liter is about 450 rubles.
There are about a dozen more products in the Hepu coolant line. However, they are less popular in Russia.

It should be noted right away that motorists speak in two ways about Hepu antifreezes. The reason for this is the presence of fakes on the market. According to some estimates, up to 20% of all Hepu concentrates sold are counterfeit products, and of varying quality.
In some cases, quite tolerable fakes come across in branded bottles that inexperienced motorists do not distinguish from the original. But there are also coolants of disgusting quality, which not only precipitate and lose color almost immediately after filling, but also clog the system, causing the motor to overheat and the destruction of individual elements of the cooling jacket.
If we talk about original Hepu antifreezes, here motorists almost unanimously show satisfaction with the price-quality ratio. The following features of Hepu products are noted:
- compliance of the boiling and freezing temperatures of the coolant with the standards declared by the manufacturer, but only if there were no violations in the technology for diluting the antifreeze concentrate;
- long-term operation without color change and precipitation;
- sparing attitude to the details of the cooling system, even after long runs (more than 50 thousand km in the case of G12), the shirt, pump impeller, thermostat valve and rubber pipes remain in good condition and have no visible damage;
- wide availability in the market.
In general, Hepu antifreezes on various online trading sites of the Russian Federation have a rating of at least 4 out of 5 stars. That is, most motorists in Russia have accepted these products well.
