Anticorrosive and antinoise PRIM. We reveal the secret of the manufacturer
Composition and distinctive features
Many consumers believe that the anticorrosive agent in question belongs to the group of compounds prepared on an exclusively bitumen basis (such as, for example, HB Body or Motip). This is not entirely true. Bitumen, of course, is present - there must be some kind of binding base! - but the “chip” of anticorrosive Prim is different - in the presence of vacuumized ceramic microspheres.
Ceramic microspheres are solid particles with a characteristic whiteness with an effective size of such particles in the range of 25…30 µm.
These unique particles provide the anticorrosive resin base with increased flexibility. Their presence makes it possible to limit the amount of volatile organic compounds traditional for most existing compositions, and at the same time increases the abrasion resistance of metal surfaces.
Other advantages of ceramic microspheres are:
- The stability of the viscosity of the composition in conditions of sharp fluctuations in temperature, characteristic of the bottom of the car.
- Improved grip due to low density (only 2400 kg/m3) and the absence of a tendency to sag during prolonged use.
- High mechanical strength (limiting pressure at which the evacuated ceramic microspheres still retain their shape - up to 240 MPa).
- Increased anti-corrosion resistance due to the presence of alkaline aluminosilicates in the composition, providing Mohs resistance up to 6 units.
- Resistance against ultraviolet radiation (spontaneous curing occurs in the sun).
With all this, the cleaning of the coating is quite easy.
Car owners also appreciate the ease of application of Prim anticorrosive, since the shape of the particles of ceramic microspheres does not require a large amount of binder - bitumen - and therefore is more evenly distributed over the surface, and does not form cracks when dried. The small particle size eliminates voids, ensuring a continuous coating is formed.
To enhance the anti-corrosion effect, Primula specialists also developed inhibitory additives, the presence of which in the finished composition does not impair the properties listed above. The composition of such additives varies depending on the commercial formula of the product (and Primula has several of them: Prim Body, Prim Profi Antishum, Prim Antishum Special, etc.).
How to process?
If we take into account the negative reviews of users (and they also exist), then the main claim is the duration of the drying time of this composition: more than 24 hours versus 5 ... 6 hours for analogues. Is this a disadvantage? No, the developers of anticorrosive and antinoise PRIM believe, since the comparison of the performance of anticorrosive and antinoise treatment should be compared under the same conditions for its implementation. It is also worth recalling that many imported anticorrosives are characterized by the presence of catalysts that speed up the drying process, but at the same time worsen the final adhesion of the product to the metal surface. Therefore, such compositions will have to be updated more often, and the actual consumption of such compositions will be noticeably higher than Prim anticorrosive (as, by the way, any other composition included in the line of autochemical products from the Primula company).
When applied evenly with a brush, the developers guarantee the following coating parameters:
- Temperature resistance range: -60…+1200C.
- Noise reduction efficiency, dB: not less than 5…8.
- Minimum protective film thickness, µm: 800.
- Shrinkage of the coating at the end of the warranty period: no more than 15%.
During application, the final surface is characterized by the presence of visible pores. This is not a disadvantage. As part of the anticorrosive and antinoise PRIM, there is expanded perlite, which looks like volcanic pumice. Such perlite is part of the aluminosilicate and is intended for the sorption of chemically aggressive components that the bottom of the car encounters when vehicles move along the road.
The price of anticorrosive and antinoise Prim when packaged in aerosol cans with a standard capacity of 650 ml is from 500 rubles. The price for 1 liter containers is a little more expensive - from 680 rubles.
