ASL - Line failure warning

This system, offered on Citroën vehicles, is activated when the distracted driver gradually changes the trajectory of his vehicle. How it works: when crossing a lane (continuous or intermittent), when the direction indicator is not on, the infrared sensors of the ASL system located behind the front bumper detect the anomaly, and the computer warns the driver by activating the vibration emitter located in the seat cushion on the side corresponding crossing the line.

After that, the driver can correct his trajectory. The ASL system is activated by pressing the center front panel. The status is retained when the vehicle is stationary. More precisely, there are six infrared sensors located under the front bumper of the car, three on each side, which detect lane departure.

Each sensor is equipped with an infrared emitting diode and a detection cell. Detection is carried out by variations in the reflection of the infrared beam emitted by the diode on the roadway. Such sophisticated detectors can detect both white and yellow, red or blue lines, which signal time deviations in various European countries.

The system is also able to distinguish between horizontal signs (continuous or broken line) and other signs on the ground: return arrows, distance indicators between vehicles, written (except for special non-standard cases).
