Audi A4, A5, A6 and Maserati Levante recalled

Audi Australia has recalled 2252 vehicles from its A4, A5 and A6 ranges.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has recalled the recently released Maserati Levante SUV and several Audi models due to an engine problem.

Audi Australia has recalled 2252 vehicles from its A4, A5 and A6 ranges, which use the TFSI 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and were built between 2011 and 2016.

If the coolant containing foreign particles blocks the auxiliary coolant pump in the respective vehicles, it may cause the part to overheat significantly, which may lead to a fire.

The German automaker will contact owners of these models by mail and instruct them to arrange an Engine Control Unit (ECU) check at their preferred Audi dealership.

The responses follow those from Audi earlier this month.

Pending evaluation, a software update will be applied to the ECU that changes the activation and diagnostics of the auxiliary water pump.

The recall follows Audi earlier this month with the 9098 Q5 and 2191 A3 recalls due to unrelated issues.

Meanwhile, Maserati Australia has issued a safety notice for 73 units of its Levante due to issues with the SUV's 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel powertrain.

An issue has been identified with a section of the intercooler short rubber hose that can be damaged while the vehicle is in motion if the part is not to specification.

In such a situation, the “check engine” malfunction indicator light will come on, which helps alert owners to the problem. In addition, drivers may notice a decrease in performance.

Audi A4, A5, A6 and Maserati Levante recalled Even though the Levante was only launched in February of this year, Maserati has already recalled the Levante due to an engine problem.

The Italian manufacturer will notify owners of affected vehicles directly and ask them to arrange for their Levante to be assessed at the nearest Maserati dealership.

Just launched in February this year, the Levante has already proved a resounding sales success for Maserati, with the brand's sales in Australia jumping 49.5% year on year.

As reported last week, the SUV line-up will expand later this year with the introduction of S petrol variants with Ferrari's 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine under the hood.

BMW of North America has recalled 45,484 of its 7 series produced between 2005 and 2008 due to an issue that caused doors to open unexpectedly.

However, the local division of the company confirmed that no Australian vehicles were affected by this problem.

Vehicle owners looking for more information on any recalls, including a list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), can search the ACCC Product Safety Australia website.
