Audi A4 Cabriolet 2.0 TDI (103 kW) DPF

This is bad? No and yes. Not because this A4 has been one of the best convertibles of its kind since its inception and an absolute winner in terms of aerodynamics. Install a windshield, roll up the windows, and with the roof down, you can safely exceed our highway limits and there won't be a bigger gust of wind in the cabin, not to mention the hurricane that many competitors like to blow. Talking to a passenger or listening to the radio is not an issue.

The illusion dissipates when the speed drops within the city limits. Then you will quickly discover that the old, archived XNUMX-liter TDI unit-injector system is (very) loud and wobbly, in short, completely unsuitable for such a machine. Before (say) driving into the garage, it's best to raise the roof so your ears don't hurt. ...

The roof is another good part of this car. The soundproofing is good, the operation is fully electrified, it's fast enough, and since it's a tarp, it doesn't take up too much space in the trunk either - which means it's enough for everyday needs. In addition, this A4, especially if it is white and equipped with accessories from the S line package, such as a test car, is still pleasing to the eye, ergonomics are already at the level we are used to from this brand, and even in the rear seats it is quite enough (unless, of course, covered with a windshield) that such an A4 convertible is useful for the daily activities of a family with small children.

When will he get a (better) successor? Probably never with that name - we hear that the A4 Cabriolet will be replaced by a roofless version of the equally large A5 coupe. Whatever it's called - given what the current convertible is like, and given the technical advancement between the old and new A4 (and A5), we can expect it to be fully class-leading once again. Whether you're waiting or thinking about it is your decision - just avoid diesel fuel.

evaluation

  • Despite its age, the A4 Cabriolet is still the market leader - except, of course, for the archival diesel.
