Audi A6 3.0 TDI DPF Quattro Tiptronic

We know from the past: The A6 is best paired with a three-liter turbo diesel (or at least a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine), an automatic transmission and of course the Quattro all-wheel drive. Exactly as short as the test. So expectations were high before we got into the slightly updated A6.

Keep up: it did not disappoint. The 176-litre turbodiesel is an old friend, but Audi engineers always refine it so that it is one of the best engines of its kind. Now it has a power of 240 kilowatts or 6 "horsepower", thanks to six cylinders, a common rail system and precise balancing, it is quiet and smooth, while the A6, which is not among the lightest cars, can move at exemplary speed. speed (6 sec to XNUMX kilometers per hour). this is a fact that many would not be ashamed of by the name and purpose of a sports car), but at the same time with an exemplary low consumption.

Tested for hairs up to 11 liters, expect two more liters per city (depending on driving style) if you are driving longer and not too fast (but still faster than our highway limits) routes, it falls below ten liters. ; also well below ten if your speed is really moderate.

The gearbox isn't the latest scream of technology and is therefore hesitant at times, downshifting too slowly or upshifting unexpectedly, but it's definitely in the middle compared to the competition. Sport mode is useful as the higher shift points don't get in the way (due to the quiet engine), but it also allows manual shifting with the lever (with the wrong rocker, i.e. forward for higher gear and reverse for lower) or using the steering wheel.

But since the drivetrain is good enough, as stated, it will surely spend most of its time in D position. All-wheel drive? Yes. It is working. Unobtrusive, so cool.

This will make the driver even more relaxed behind the wheel and notice that the A6 has a new high-resolution graphic display (with a new bezel) between the sensors and that there are a few more aluminum and chrome accents in the cabin. ...

The seats are still exemplary comfortable (but they have new active cushions), the ergonomics are still exemplary, and there is plenty of room. Navigation on Slovenian roads also works well, the updated MMI control system now has a button at the top of the main control button, making it easier to control (say) navigation. ...

Most of the changes are outside. The nose section is now irresistibly reminiscent of the A8, the xenon headlights have LED daytime running lights, the shape of the rear section is completely new in appearance, including the headlights. With these changes, the A6 has become even more mature and stylish. And with these drive mechanics and equipment, it also delivers on the promises it makes with its looks. But remember: nothing is free. ...
