Station wagons have long ceased to be angular ugly. The new Audi A6 Avant has a dynamic silhouette with many sporty accents and is equipped with systems that support both its functionality and dynamics.

The vehicle is 4,93 m long, 1,87 m wide and just 1,46 m high. The lancet headlights and the large Singleframe grille create a sporty front end. At the rear, the lamps have a more conservative shape, but they are given a modern character by whimsical patterns that fill the shades of LED lights. LEDs and bi-xenon headlights also add character to the headlights.

The silhouette of the car is light. Many modern materials have been used in the construction of the car, such as hardened steel and aluminum, accounting for 20 percent of the total. car body. The body is lighter by 30 kg, and the new generation of the car is lighter than the current one by about 70 kg (the exact difference depends on the engine version).

The luggage compartment is the most important innovation in the station wagon. In the basic configuration, it has a volume of 565 liters. The separate rear seat is easily folded with the help of rods in the walls of the luggage compartment. The trunk has a double floor, hooks for shopping bags, a dirty bin, accessory rails and elements to hold small items in place. Of course, there is also a system of accessories, including, for example, eyelets for attaching a bicycle.

However, the most interesting equipment option available is the new way of opening the tailgate, which debuted in this model. You don't need to touch the tailgate, or even the button on the remote control that activates the automatic opening of the tailgate. The new Audi A6 Avant uses a different method of activating this mechanism. Two sensors are installed under the bumper. If the driver approaches the car with his hands full of luggage, he does not have to lower them - he just needs to make the appropriate movement in front of the sensors, triggering both sensors, and the sunroof will open automatically. The secret of the movement has not yet been revealed. Information says only that it is specific. Of course, the system must sense that the person approaching the car and making this mysterious movement has a key ring from the keyless opening system in his pocket.

The interior of the car is spacious thanks to an increase in the wheelbase to 2,91 m. The interior trim is a combination of quality materials and ergonomics. Decorative inserts can be made of aluminum or three types of wood, including a contrasting combination of light and dark oak. You can use black glossy varnish. There will also be several types of leather upholstery to choose from, and there is a version with a massage function in the seating options. As part of the personalization, you can also choose between a three- and four-spoke steering wheel, order a heated steering wheel, electric column position adjustment or fenders for switching automatic transmission in sequential mode.

A retractable monitor above the center console is standard, but an additional one can be ordered as an option, installed between the instrument panel clock. It manages the DIS driver information system. One of the available equipment options is a head-up display that projects basic information onto the windshield. As part of the standard equipment will be offered, among other things, the following four-zone climate control, cruise control, automatic lighting and wipers.

A wide range of multimedia kits will be available as options: a 15-speaker variant prepared by Bang & Olufsen upstairs, and a kit that includes a hard drive and touch panel control located on the tunnel. An option will also be the ability to create an internal Wi-Fi network and combine maps of the navigation system with photos from Google Earth, as well as search for destinations using voice prompts.

The range of engines consists of six units equipped with direct fuel injection, start / stop systems, energy recovery during braking and a new cooling system that increases engine efficiency. These solutions have reduced fuel consumption by up to 18 percent. Only one of the engines has four cylinders, the rest are V6s. Two petrol engines - 2,8 FSI with a capacity of 204 hp. and three hundred strong 3,0 FSI. Among the four turbodiesels, the base is a two-liter engine with 177 hp, and the top one is a three-liter unit with 313 hp. With it under the hood, the new Audi station wagon accelerates to 100 km/h in 5,4 seconds. A two-liter turbodiesel is an option for economical ones, providing fuel consumption of 5 l / 100 km.

Depending on the version, the engines can be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, a continuously variable multitronic transmission, a seven-speed S tronic, and the most powerful three-liter turbodiesel will even have an eight-speed tiptronic for quick gear changes. . The two-litre turbodiesel is only available on the front axle, the rest of the engines will be quattro all-wheel drive as standard or as an option. As an option, a sports differential will be available with it, ensuring optimal distribution of power to the rear wheels.

As usual, the driver will be supported by many electronic systems, such as adaptive cruise control or a night vision system that points out pedestrians when they are still out of light. Audi announces the release of the new Top Wiev parking assistance system in the near future. Equipped with 4 small cameras, it provides surveillance of the area around the car.

The market debut is scheduled for the end of summer. Prices in Germany are expected to start at €40.
