Audi A8 L High Security - a tank under the sign of four rings

High Security - It is difficult to find a name that reflects the character and armored versions of limousines with the Audi badge. With cutting-edge technology and heavy-duty materials, the "highest level of security" is also guaranteed by the latest A8 L High Security.

The letter "L", appearing in the armored name "A-eight", means that we are dealing with a model with an extended wheelbase. Its value exceeds 3 meters, and the length of the entire vehicle is 5,27 meters. However, sky-high dimensions are not what stands out the most for the body. Most importantly, her endurance, protecting important people from the arsenal of assassins.

The core element of the entire vehicle is the aluminum Audi Space Frame, reinforced with materials such as armored steel or aramid fabrics. Sufficient protection is also provided by polycarbonate-coated laminated glass and additional reinforcements on the side sills. The use of materials with increased strength, of course, was accompanied by a significant increase in weight - while the main structure weighs 720 kg, the reinforcement of doors and windows created an additional 660 kg.

A8 L High Security is also equipped with a special fire extinguishing system (covering the wheels, chassis, fuel tank and engine compartment with fireproof foam), a system that provides protection against chemical / gas attacks (using oxygen under pressure), as well as an emergency door opening system (using pyrotechnic charges).

The car is also equipped with additional LED lighting designed for driving in a column and a mechanism that allows you to freely talk to people outside without having to open the windows. As with the standard model, the interior of the enhanced limousine is loaded with exclusive equipment such as 4-zone air conditioning or an optional refrigerator.

The engine used in the armored Audi also comes from the top shelf. The 6,3-liter unit has 12 cylinders and is capable of developing 500 hp. and a torque of 625 Nm. These parameters allow a heavy car to accelerate to “hundreds” in 7,3 seconds and reach an electronically limited 210 km / h. Claimed fuel consumption of 13,5 l / 100 km does not seem high.

The powertrain used was paired with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, while the chassis components, braking system and electronic systems were modified to take into account the greater mass and, of course, to ensure the highest possible level of safety. .

The armored A8 is produced in Neckarsulm, Germany and takes about 450 hours to build one unit. It is important to note that the factory that produces the High Security version does not allow the use of mobile phones. All this in order to minimize the possibility of leakage of secret information about the technologies used.

We don't know how much Audi valued their beefed up limousine, but we're sure the amount is beyond our imagination (not to mention the portfolio).
