Test drive Audi Q7 4.2 TDI Quattro

The engine isn't new, but the Q7 (because of its size and weight) is painted on skin: a 4-litre eight-cylinder, breathable, with twin variable geometry turbochargers capable of 2 Nm of torque - starting at 760 rpm. So the 1.800 "horsepower" available at 326 rpm merges into that figure.

The engine, of course (easily) complies with the Euro4 environmental standard, has a diesel particulate filter, and fuel injection is provided by a Common Rail system with Pieco injectors and a maximum pressure of 1.600 bar. With its precision it can handle a lot of pre- and injection pulses, the engine is pleasantly quiet and smooth, and combined with the six-speed automatic makes the Q7 almost an athlete. To accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in just six seconds, flexibility is even more impressive, and at the same time, average consumption can be advantageously low - from 11 to 12 liters per 100 kilometers, which is very good for such a large car.

The new engine also includes a higher level of standard equipment. In addition to all the other equipment that comes standard on the already lightly motorized Q7, air suspension, leather upholstery and an electrified tailgate mechanism (with an adjustable top point, especially for those of shorter stature) are also standard equipment.

At an additional cost, you can also order the Audi Lane Assist system, which monitors the car from the lane with two cameras and warns the driver by shaking the steering wheel (available in the fall), and the top Bang & Olufsen Sound System with 14 active speakers and subwoofers (more than 1000 watts in total). The Q7 4.2 TDI Quattro is already available on the Slovenian market, and a good € 76 will have to be deducted for it.
