The Aisin AW4-60LE or AF40 13-speed automatic transmission has been produced since 1995 and has been installed on a great many models from various European manufacturers. Around 2006, this transmission gave way to an updated version with the SN index.
The AW60 family also includes automatic transmissions: AW60‑40SN, AW60‑41SN and AW60‑42LE.

Disadvantages, breakdowns and problems of Aisin AW60-40LE
The first two years of production there were cases with antifreeze getting inside the case
But in general, the reliability of this machine is at its best and all its problems are age-related.
Clutch wear products clog solenoids and cause shocks in operation.
Due to oil starvation, the automatic transmission planetary mechanism suffers the most
